amy g.
The dogs found it in the creek, and were playing tug with it. Last month, they brought home something that could ONLY be a dinosaur femur.

jujsky
How big is it? It looks like it has canine teeth. Could it be a dog? Wolf? Coyote? Fox? I'm glad my dogs have never dragged home anything like that ;)
amy g.
I didn't measure it, but the teeth really look like canine teeth.
kalanamak
I didn't measure it, but the teeth really look like canine teeth. google. Dogs usually have a scoop nose and cats a "roman" nose. Mountain lion? How big is it and where are you?
Renee in NC
I was going to say Coyote if that is fur on the back foot (which is what it looks like.)
amy g.
I'm outside of Houston. I'd guess it is about two and a half feet long. I do think it had fur, but I wasn't willing to examine it TOO closely.
amy g.
I think I saw a Bob Cat on our road once. That might be around the right size.

astrid
based on those photos.....Click on the bobcat skull.... See how rounded this one is? Much like the skull in the OP's picture? That's my guess, anyway. astrid
HeathenMom
the only big, canine teeth having animals in the Houston area are bobcats and coyotes...but i've seen nutra (sp?) rats about that size! my dad lives in the northern suburbs of Houston and has had a cougar in his backyard more than once! I just learned it's raccoon. I think it might have been a youngster.... Way Cool!
dangermom
Coyote's skulls are very slim, not round like that. I don't know what the heck it could be though.
Truscifi
I'd guess mountain lion (or whatever version of large cat you have in your area) based on the shape of the skull. How big is it?
Alexandra
Yeah. For sure.

Soph the vet
My friend is coming today, to take it to her vet, and ask him what it is. I'll let you all know what he says.:lol::lol: That's what he might do first! Count the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae for a start to see what species it might fall under. I can't do it from the picture. Looking at the dentition will definitely help too.
