Would you wear black to a wedding?

Recommended Posts

I have a wedding to go to tomorrow evening. A young woman on my worship team is getting married and I didn't think I had much to wear. Well, since I've lost weight (yeah!) I finally fit into this "little black dress" that I've been holding on to "just in case" I ever did lose the weight. Dh LOVES this dress and I know he wants me to wear it. But, is it wrong to wear black to an evening wedding? Her colors are all Fall type colors (brides maids dresses are a medium brownish color). What says the Hive? Would I be committing a major social faux pas?

I didn't think it mattered what colour people other than the bride wear.

:iagree: ~ almost.....because I don't think it matters what colour *anyone* wears. My wedding dress was blue. :D

I can also say this ~ I was so excited on my wedding day that my friends could have been wearing jammies & bunny slippers and I doubt I'd have even noticed. ;)

I know you asked for Hive advice, but just in case all the responses here telling you to go for it weren't enough:

And the list goes if you google "can I wear black to a wedding".

So, go, have a great time and give my congrats to the new bride....and while I'm congratulating, congrats on the weight loss and fitting into the "someday" dress!

I would never wear black if I were the mother of the bride or groom.

I guess unless you had weird kids... my husband and I are oddballs, we asked our families to wear black to the wedding. We wanted everyone to match, we had to convince some that it was really 'okay' and really what we wanted.
