  1. I keep going over your previous statement in my head and I wonder to how much of an extent the White House controls the aspects of our lives. I know that they put a ban on pictures of the soldiers coffins coming back from Iraq and Afganistan, but the thought of them giving cues to the media as to what they are allowed to report on or not report on is troubling. I must be really naive. I always thought we had a free press.
  2. There are a lot of public domain pieces that you can download for free. I was looking through my favorites because I know I bookmarked several sites, but I cannot find them now. :( I think my husband must have been cleaning out the favorites again. :( Here is one I remembered by name though so I could pull the link up for you. :) http://www.pianostreet.com/
  3. Oh that is beautiful!! Not corny at all! :grouphug: :) I'm behind you by one year. I can't believe how quickly the time goes.
  4. That is a GREAT idea. I've never even considerd that. :) I know Michaels also sells doll clothes and probably some of the other craft/sewing stores too.
  5. Wow!! So what does that say then about the reporting of the swine flu?? Did the Administration really want to cause a widespread panic?
  6. Wow! I was thinking about this statement and wondering how that pertains to the various media outlets. I'm thinking specifically about the recent swine flu as an example. It was reported on so much and made out to be bigger story than it really was so much so that people started to panic. The news is always competing to get the more sensational story in order to boost their ratings or readership and yet this story of North Korea is hardly being reported on.:confused: I certainly don't think that a lack of reporting on their parts is out of a sense of duty to their country in order to not play into North Korea's strenths. I honestly don't think the various media outlets even think of those kinds of terms of loyalty and honor. I think there are probably people in the news media who would sell their own mother in order to further their own ambitions. Are you saying that you think the government is controlling what the media reports on in regards to this issue? Sorry I wrote that so poorly, I wish I were a better writer, but I'm too much of a dummy. :D hehe I'm just trying to see if I'm reading your comment correctly, Bill, and what the implications of it are. :)
  7. Awww. congratulations on your newest addition to the family. :grouphug: I wish I could have another baby. I just don't know how I could possibly manage it. God bless all you new mommies. :) Jennifer
  8. That actually sounds really good to me too! :) Do they have resources or additional reading for the points of interest? Thanks so much for your reply. :)
  9. It's no surprise to me that you are attacked over the very things that God has called you to do. I serve at my church on Wednesday nights and teach a group of 6th grade Public School girls. Wouldn't you know it that every single week, without fail, something has happened to cause me to be late to church, just barely making it on time, sick, problems with hubby's job, or kids etc. EVERY week. But the girls in my class are doing TREMENDOUS and growing so much. I just take it as a compliment that the enemy considers me dangerous and is really afraid of what God is doing in the lives of these young people. I go through the same things with homeschooling too. Always distractions, interruptions, set backs. But like you I KNOW that I am called to do this. I don't worry about what gets done or doesn't get done. I do my best and let God handle the rest. My daughter has never failed an evaluation and she is growing into a strong young Christian lady. :grouphug: Let me encourage you to keep your chin up. Try not to grow weary while doing good. God knows what you're dealing with and what your feeling. My best advice is just to get some good alone time with Him one on one and just spend some time in prayer and worship. It will make you feel so much better. I like to think of that poem Footprints and how in the most difficult times He carries us. You never walk alone honey. He is with you and will carry you through if you let him. :grouphug: God bless you. :)
  10. Do you use a separate Geography curriculum or do you just bring it up while learning other subjects?? Thank you to all who reply. :) Jennifer
  11. My suggestions would be all latin dishes so I don't know if you want them or not, but if you do PM me and I'll be happy to give you recipes. :)
  12. What's the difference between the Standards edition and the US edition?
  13. Awww. He loves his mama!! :) Enjoy it while you can. They grow up so fast!! And besides, you can always just grab some worms from the backyard for him. ;) :D hehe
  14. :lurk5: I'm in the same position and wondering the same thing. I'll be watching this thread eagerly. :) I hope you get some good advice. :)
  15. After singing them at church tonight I had to put a couple Hillsongs up. Enjoy! :D
  16. Cool. Do you have her complete all of the assignments in both of the books?? My daughter always tests grade level as well, she just tests lower in math than all her other subjects where she tests way beyond her grade level. I personally don't care too much about scores, but my main concern was to give her as many tools as I can for the evaluation because of her test anxiety. Nothing freaks her out more than having the teacher ask her a question that she has no clue what she's talking about. I know that different math programs sometimes teach the same skill but use a different wording to teach the concept, so I'm just trying to give her a couple of more tools in her tool bag to hopefully lessen her test anxiety. :)
  17. Cool! :D I'm Spanish/Cuban. My husband is the crazy Dominican. ;) :D hehe
  18. I'm east of 95 on Van Buren and 26th Ave right by City Hall. Are you a member of PSG?
  19. That is exactly how I feel. I cook so often and then there are so many dishes all the time I love it when we go out to eat and I dont' have to get up constantly to get more juice, more food etc. The waiter waits on me and I don't have to do anything. :) hehe We only go out rarely though unfortunately because it costs so much. :(
  20. I didn't know what to answer for the poll. I cook EVERYDAY and I wash the dishes by hand afterwards so I spend a lot of time each day in the kitchen. On days when I feel inspired and I have time, I enjoy cooking. On days when I'm pressed for time, it feels more like something I "have to do". On days when I'm sick. I HATE having to cook. And no matter what day it is, I HATE doing the dishes. hehe Mostly cooking is just something that I do without even thinking about it. But I do really enjoy trying out a new recipe (provided the recipe came out good) or cooking a really nice meal for someone. :)
  21. Broward county here too. :) Just a ways east of you in Hollywood. :) I've got an 11 yo girl. (She'll be 12 next week) and an 8 yo son. Blessings, Jennifer
