  1. My DD is thinking about becoming an Au Pair in France for 6 months for a friend of a friend of a friend. Does anyone have experience with this? Questions that should be asked? Is it too risky? She would work 20 hours a week, 2 elementary age kids, she would attend a french university (paid) for french classes. 3 hours from Paris. Live in bathroom/bedroom. I don't know even the first thing about this whole industry- Any insight would be appreciated.
  2. We went through the China process-and indeed it was a roller coaster! Good Luck!
  3. I agree with the above poster The commute into Boston is terrible no matter how you slice it. Small area, lots of people. Where his company located? I love the area, but I don't go into the city as often as I like because Boston traffic is some of the worst, most confusing in the US. Where is the company located? Any sort of commute is pretty lousy. The traffic going is horrendous. Amen to this- I love the Weston and Belmont area, but all depends how much you want to spend. I am more partial to the North side too vs. South Side. Many of my friends commute in from NH over the border- Nashua and Bedford, a headache of a commute but the prices are reasonable and NH is fabulous.
  4. Feel free to instant message or call - I live in New England and my husband has worked in Boston, he is now a regional manager so doesn't get there as much, but I can give you the ins and outs-
  5. I would just double check that the community college credits will transfer- not all uni's take them...I am finding that out right now as we apply to college with a load of CC. Best of luck! This is sure to be a difficult for you-keep your chin up!
  6. Does anyone have experience with Teach for America? Would you recommend it? What was your experience with it? Thanks in Advance!
  7. I am doing an 8 year old spa party at my house to cut down on expenses of a real salon. I have an adorable cake being made to match the theme. Please give me your creative ideas on what to do at home- Where do you think I can get cheap robes for the girls? Do I even need that? Thanks in Advance! 8. I had a biopsy and found out I have Guttate Psorasis after a strep infection? Anyone else dealing with? Has diet helped? I would like to get rid of it but it has been 5 months not looking good! Give the Gift of Service- Visit our family foundation online http://www.colormyworldkids.org
  9. I had a zo years ago and love it too! I bake a ton of bread from scratch, but would love a new one just to keep it going on a regular basis!
  10. Once someone remarked how my daughter was so intelligent, smart and bright and then made the comment "But I worry about her getting a long with teens her age." I bluntly said, "It is better than the alternative!." In my mind, caught off guard, I wish I would have said something really candid! I just always keep real optimistic instead of defensive like I used to be! Actually social networking has helped my cause tremendously, because now people can see us out and about doing things and studying on location and not a an unsocial hermit. When they see the opportunities are endless, the criticism has diminished.
  11. I am feeling the exact same way- It really comes down to cost. I don't know why we are shelling out for visits, but I think it is part of the experience. Until you look at what is out there you may never get that gut feeling.
  12. Thanks- I will definitely take a look at these today and respond this weekend. We were a little displaced with the huge power outage and New England weather last weekend, I went into survival mode vs. college mode!
  13. I was in Dubai this spring- I have about four blog posts dedicated to it starting with this one http://www.domesticlifestyle.com/?p=6436 I would move there in a heartbeat. It is safe, modest, polite, upbeat, cosmopolitan and it makes America look stupid with education and technology. Love, love, love it!
  14. This is even more depressing! Aughhhhh THanks I am running out to buy the book Brenda!
