  1. What are you making? Sweetened condensed milk would work in something sweet, but definitely not in something savory!
  2. We started out using it but dropped it after a couple of months. I liked the way it was written, but the font was very hard for me to handle. Eventually we switched to R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey. Ugh, I just opened one of the chapters from the link the op posted and I see that the font has been changed! It would have been nice if that had happened before we made the switch. *sigh* Oh well, with the cost of printing + the $50 fee for the other books we would probably have switched to R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey next year anyway.
  3. What a nice thing to do! We have a game called Backwards that nobody can ever beat me at, so I never get to play. I refuse to get rid of it since it's one of my favorite games. I'm hoping that at least one of the boys will like it when they get a bit older.
  4. I can't breathe! Uh, my ribs hurt. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Thanks for a good laugh! The story of my aunt being unable to find the baby still circulates in our family. My aunt has 8 children, so maybe it is a "mom of many" thing. The baby that I mentioned in the previous comment is now 30-years-old. Look forward to many years of it being retold. ;)
  5. On top of the bookcase and the freezer in cardboard boxes. So far I don't think the boys have even noticed them. Santa hid some presents under the tree already, but he tossed them in paper grocery bags and threw some packing tape around them to keep curious eyes from seeing what's under there. :lol We live in an old farmhouse, so we have very little closet space and have to be creative.
  6. This thread has some wonderful ideas! I just saw a gingerbread house in a magazine that used Cinnamon Toast Crunch for the roof shingles and I have to say that it seems like it would work much better than the Frosted Mini Wheats we've used in the past. We do gingerbread with my parents every year but a party sounds like a ton of fun. I may have to start planning for a party next year!
  7. I used to do it at home. It's fun and a great workout! I should pull out the DVDs and start up again. I could definitely use the exercise.
  8. Nik (6) Want: Papo knights Need: pajamas Read: Peter and the Sword of Mercy Nate (4) Want: Papo knights Need: pajamas Read: The Tale of Despereaux Nik asked Santa for Peter Pan toys and Legos. Nate asked for Snow White toys and his own little Christmas tree to decorate. I'm certain that Santa will grant those wishes.
  9. Wow! I've never seen one of those, but it looks really cool! What an awesome deal!

  11. :iagree: My husband claims to love my Italian Meatloaf with Basil and Provolone. He asks me to make it once in a while, even though he knows I don't particularly care for loaves of meat (no matter how flavorful they are!) And then he proceeds to drown it in ketchup. :glare: Tell me, what is the point of going to all of the work to make the dish if he puts so much ketchup on it that the basil and provolone can't even be detected?! I could throw a couple of eggs and some breadcrumbs in a pound of ground beef and toss it in the oven much and it would be easier, but that's not the kind he wants. When I said as much to him he looked sheepish, and hasn't asked me to make the meatloaf again in months.
  12. We've been using this one for the boys for a few years. We love it.
  13. Our stockings are homemade (by my mother and father who are quilters) and are huge so they take a lot to fill. My boys are 6 and 4 and will be getting some small Playmobil toys (like this and this), as well as a game each (this and this). They will also get toothbrushes, chocolate oranges, candy canes/peppermint sticks, a Slinky for one and a Magic 8 Ball for the other. And my four-year-old wants Santa to bring him more play dough. "The kind you make, Mom. Can we send Santa the recipe so he can make the right kind?" I thought that was cute. So now I have to make play dough some evening after they head to bed and find some some containers to use that would make Santa proud.
  14. Aaaah! How did I miss that there is a new book out?! The really disappointing part is that our local library is closed for renovations and won't open for a couple more weeks. :( Maybe I'll have to ask for it for Christmas.
  15. I am having a horrible time getting HS Skedtrack to load today. Is anyone else having problems? All other web pages are loading fine. I even restarted my computer but it's not making a bit of difference.
  16. I imagine you're already gone, but my vote for the next date night is to rent a movie and have a romantic picnic at home. Have your husband drop the kids off at the church and pick up a rotisserie chicken while he's out. You can have picked up everything else (the movie, some good cheese, a crusty baguette, fruit, and a bottle of wine) earlier in the day/week. While he's gone you set up some candles and a comfy blanket near the tv, and get your plates ready with everything but the chicken so you have time to finish your movie before your time is up. Even if you've picked a movie that you don't like you won't miss out, you can always ditch the movie and make out. :D
  17. Would it work to microwave the leaves (assuming you have a microwave) to dry them? Or put them between a couple of rags or paper towels and run the iron over them until they are nice and dry? I don't think using wet leaves would work very well.
