  1. "Wow, is that arterial?" That time was today. He's fine. It was not arterial. Aforesaid surgeon glued aforesaid thumb back together. I felt woozy just hearing the story and looking at the thumb.
  2. :svengo: Roadside assistance!?! Didn't you read the *age to change your own tire* thread? /walks away mumbling about those NYers with their strange desire to spoil their kids with roadside assistance
  3. Those poor kids. They were locked up for over 2 weeks but now they can't go home...they're being shipped off to ANOTHER unknown place.
  4. I say when I am an old lady I want to live in walking distance of library and Wegmans. Probably by the time I'm old there won't be libraries. And maybe there will be replicators so I can just order food. "Tea, iced, sweet." Apologies to my JeanLuc.
  5. It's ok...just drink some more. Don't stress yourself.
  6. Wow...I hope you get better info from the next appointments! I just noticed your avatar...is that a beef on weck with a pickle and a little cup of horseradish?!
  7. Just to clarify...you are working from memory? It is your memory that she said this threat on an old blog post?
  8. :grouphug: Your post has me crying. I am so glad you all had those years so close by each other and I'm sorry things have changed.
  9. Pasta Fagioli I keep the pasta separate. I cook a cup or 2 of ditalini and put it in a separate container and then give the rest of the box of uncooked pasta to the family.
  10. IME, families who send their children to private school don't just decide to do it the year before they enroll their child. The cost is something that is factored in years before the child starts school and major financial decisions are made with that in mind. What the means in practical terms for people I know is that they have a smaller, cheaper house, less expensive transportation, side jobs, etc...
  11. Does he feel sympathy or show tenderness or sadness to others or animals in ANY situations? If other kids are crying, does he try to comfort them or show he cares? If he hears a story of a hurt animal, does he feel badly? Gently, I'd be worried based on what you've written and I'd reach out to professionals (child psychologist) for a consult. I have seen some kids who don't show remorse as they get older bc of a combo of perfectionism and embarrassment, at first, but then eventually they do show remorse. :grouphug:

I think I might have PMed you a few months ago? A lot of this sounds familiar. Anyways...I can't advise you on the nasal spray or surgery or diet. So that's like the majority of your questions. I'm sorry. Tegretol is usually used for complex-partial and temporal lobe seizures which sound like what you are describing. IME, If she is at a therapeutic dose or at the upper level of dosing, and still seizing, that is when docs start looking at other meds. Or adding meds. I've had experience with too much medication causing myoclonus (jerking of limbs) but not loss of muscle tone. And I don't think it was from too much tegretol but I can't remember. I don't know what you mean by a "seizure focus in her brain (the malformation)" ? To the best of my understanding, Seizures start in one part of the brain and stay there until they stop...or generalize, meaning spread throughout the brain (secondary generalization). Focal seizures stay in one part of the brain. If you are saying her seizures are due to a malformation, definitely ask what her options are, if surgery would help. There are also devices that can be implanted to help deal with seizures. They're vagus nerve stimulators, if you want to ask the doc. VNS.
  13. 7/7 is a cool birthdate! I hope your day is wonderful!
  14. :grouphug: Aww, that is a ton to have happen in a short time period. I hope your shoulder gets the care it needs!
  15. Oh, no! Argh! Do u have glass coverage? I feel your windshield pain, my friend! I just had ours replaced a couple hours ago bc a branch fell on it on Independence Day. There were 2 impact points that just splintered the glass and sent spider webs throughout the windshield.
  16. :hurray: I think I did about 100 yards that was part of a super easy hike at Shenandoah.
  17. This made the hair on the back on my neck stand up. Something about it just creeps me out. I did read the whole thread so I know you think he is a nice family guy but...yeesh. I wouldn't interact with him again. It seems like he is far beyond strike 3. I'd opt out of any social events that would put me and/or my son in contact with him. And there's not a snowball's chance in hell my son would ever work for him.
  18. (((mrs. weasley))) :grouphug:
  19. No. Uh-huh. Last week, A food blogger wrote something like...summer is halfway over... Wh-what?!?!
  20. Ugh, that sounds awful! I'm sorry. My brain can't handle the scrolling of the IPad or even TV when i take strong pain meds like those. It increases my dizzy feeling. I mostly listen to music or radio.
  21. Are they generally nice kids that you or their mom can encourage to go and have fun for your son's sake? I'd try to reach out to anyone who might possibly know the phone number of an invited kid. Perhaps if you get one number, you can get others? Good luck! :grouphug:
