  1. :grouphug: Oh, gosh. What a chicken or the egg conundrum. I hope he gets some answers and treatment and relief.
  2. How did our son feel today, Andani? I'm hoping maybe better! I know there have been a few times as soon as I give voice to a worry, something changes for the better...maybe that happened today?
  3. Nothing is too big for Christ. Nothing.
  4. I see you as a peacemaker. <3 <3 <3
  5. You might not need a HOA to deal with that bc some municipalities have laws against leaving in non-working cars on a property.
  6. Duh! How could I forget this one? I would pick up shoveling jobs on my paper route, too!
  7. I worked as a waitress at Pizza Hut but I helped in the kitchen a lot! When we'd make our own pizzas to take home, we'd lift the dough out of the pan, wipe most of the oil out and then proceed. There was a special Pizza Hut greasy smell that was unique to PH.
  8. I just watched it again with CC. Joe is trying to blame Mark bc if Mark hadn't hit Danny, Danny wouldn't have turned to Joe and then the "accident" wouldn't have happened. It is just Joe trying to blame everyone but himself.
  9. Paper route and babysitting. Then Burger King, and then a gas station.
  10. I didn't use the word dumb. In the situations I am experiencing, I disagree it is safer for pedestrians to cross against their light because it would mean they are stepping into traffic that is starting to move, or in some cases already moving (they look at the green light for the north moving traffic and still continue walking.)
  11. I thought DS's orientation was beneficial to attend. The parent meetings I attended weren't simply information being read to us. There was a presentation and a chance to ask questions, interact with the presenter, etc. One of the best ones was with the head of Campus Safety who spoke without notes and with just a few graphics on the screen. Personally, I felt reassured by some of the things he had to say. One thing was that he told us that in an emergency, they can and have found students that parents could not get a hold of. (Like a family member died or was injured and they couldn't get ahold of their student.) I'm sure that is rare, but if it is happening to me, it's nice to know they want to be contacted and they can help. He told everyone to put the campus safety number in our phones. They also had a convocation that was very nice. DS said it felt like the beginning of their community. I was glad to be a part of it. And we had a wonderful catered dinner.
  12. Oh, no. :crying: :grouphug: I am so very sorry about your terrible loss. You and your son are lovely people. I wish I could do something more for you but you remain in my prayers.
  13. And I am losing it...because you mentioned *putting in hardwood* and I let it slip by with nary a double entendre.
  14. Yes, but there is a fee. It is free to reload them at the AAA office with cash, debit, check, etc. And you can reload over the phone, too, for a fee.
  15. :svengo: This happens AT LEAST twice a week, for a couple years now. I am driving north. I am stopped at a red light. Pedestrians stand on the corner to my right, facing west. They HAVE A GREEN LIGHT. They are standing on the corner, looking at MY RED LIGHT. They wait. Wait. Look at my red light. Wait. Waitwaitwaitwaitwait. My light turns green, clearing me to proceed, to head to the true north, strong and free. The pedestrians STEP OFF THE CURB and start crossing the street, walking west, AGAINST their light, right in front of me. They are looking at the WRONG LIGHT! What the blankety-blank is WRONG with people? It is all ages, all genders, all races, single people, groups of people...every combination of humanity possible, has done this to me in the last couple years. I don't trust pedestrians as far as I can throw them.
  16. Update: One fugitive is dead (the one who tortured and killed his elderly ex-employer) and one (the state trooper murderer) is still at large. Focus is on the Malone, NY area. Malone is the former home of Almanzo Wilder, husband of Laura Ingalls Wilder. You can visit his family museum. Might want to wait until they catch the fugitive first. http://www.almanzowilderfarm.com/
  17. It could be thyroid. Or depression? How much fresh air and exercise does he usually get? Can he sit on the porch in the sunshine? I'd try to get in sooner. Maybe try to get on cancellation list? I hope you get some answers. :grouphug:
  18. You're welcome. Be sure to mention it is for a teen and that you want 2 linked cards. Another thing you can do is photocopy or write down the numbers of the cards then if for some reason your DS has to cancel one card but can't, you have the info to do it. Oh! I keep remembering...you can also check the balances on a website. It was kind of funny to watch what my kids did or did not spend. One trip, my DS was getting over being sick and he only bought Gatorade to eat/drink for about 10 hours. :svengo:
  19. I don't know about the one you mentioned but AAA has cards members can get. You can get 2 for like $5. Reloading them is free at AAA locations. He can get 2 cards "linked" and then carry one and "hide" the other in his luggage. If he loses one or it gets stolen, you can cancel it right away and then start using the other linked card.
