  1. Thanks--I enjoyed the poem very much; it's very apt to HSing moms too.:001_smile:
  2. W have the audio CDs with Sidney Poitier, Kathleen Turner, etc reading the stories. I think this version is great, and I'd buy it again. I don't know the reader listed on the audible version, but I'd take Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier over a random guy, ykwim? :001_smile:
  3. So, so sorry, mama.:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  4. A couple of years ago I bought this kit from Hearthsong for making a felt advent garland--we loved it. Then we got water in our basement...and it was ruined. They no longer appear to carry it. So my question is: did anyone here buy it, and if you did, did you keep the directions/pattern? I could reproduce the materials if I knew what I needed things to look like precisely. Anyone able to help me? Or alternately, anyone with better google-fu than I able to direct me to where I could buy a replacement?
  5. I think it's the age too. My ds11.5 is a giant pain in the neck for anything requiring effort of any kind. It gets old. Fast. :glare:
  6. I don't have that association with the name Peter. Ds4 has two middle names, one of which is Peter; the only reason we didn't use it for his first name is that I can't stand the nickname Pete, and I was afraid that it would inevitably morph into Pete. :tongue_smilie:
  7. IMO, you should be fine with Bond. The main thing is the level of sexual suggestiveness. However, these last ones (with Daniel Craig) have been much more action-man than smooth-operator. ;) If you're fine with your kids knowing that JB is a ladies man and does things off screen then I think it'll be fine for you. :001_smile:
  8. Yeah, I liked the Chekov's lizard too! :D Bond's attempts to point it out were hilarious!
  9. Da and I went last night--we really liked it. Judi Dench came off as suitably witchy in the beginning... ;)
  10. I love, love Niamh! So cool--but impossible to guess its pronunciation of you don't know.
  11. :lol:yeah, I can see why naming a dd that would be a bad idea--though I do know a couple who did, and they deliberately chose it on account of Dune.:confused: People are strange.
  12. :iagree:, its just that sometimes some of us lose sight of it. But fundamentally, I completely agree.
  13. Real play dough I can't stand and won't have in the house. I found a nice, natural one that doesn't stink, And ds4 can play with that at the table. NB, I have laminate floors, no carpet, so it's not a cleanup issue for me, just the nasty smell.
  14. Per online help, we used a bottle of hydrogen peroxide on our dog about 3 weeks ago. You mix it with baking soda. First wash dog with regular soap, then with the peroxide/soda mixture. It's a pain, but it worked totally for us. You could do the face, maybe using a washcloth to cover poochie's eyes like a baby. Good luck!
  15. We have an iPad1 and an iPad2; I'd advise a 2 or higher--they're faster and less glitchy. But we love them both. :001_smile:
  16. I'd choose the second practice. I am a 3VBA2C mom, and that's what I'd do. I'd not be able to feel comfortable about going into labor in fear of the other midwife at the first practice. Having a good caregiver is of incalculable value.
  17. Susan, I bought a couple of large wet bags and used them inside my diaper pail. Then when I washed the dipes (about every 2-3 days), I'd throw the wet bag in wash with the diapers, so it didn't stink either. I used ones more or less like this one, but I got them used, so they were much cheaper. In any case, they're totally worth it.
