  1. Ds and I finished our scripts for Camp NaNoWriMo!

  2. Footprints in the Ash is a great book: http://www.amazon.com/Footprints-Ash-Explosive-Story-Helens/dp/0890514003 It tells about how the Mt. St. Helens eruption shows evidence for a world-wide flood. This might not be exactly what you're looking for but it is a pleasant read and very interesting. It isn't a long book...your library might own it or be able to get it for you.

  5. What about a tablecloth and cloth covers for the chairs that don't match? (instead of tablecloth and not using the chairs)
  6. I'm not looking forward to finding a new company. We're homeschool moms...we did the research! :D If we had wanted something else we would've picked it in the first place. Grrr... We're going to wait until there's a firm date for end of service. I also want to see what Sprint will offer but I'm not expecting anything beyond what they offer to the general public. Here's hoping we find something else!
  7. I feel your pain...we also use US Cellular and were 'sold' to sprint...also just bought a new, now worthless, phone! So will the White Sox still be playing at 'the cell' (us cellular field)? I so do not want to research cell service again!
  8. new bifocals have my brain confused!

  9. This thread is interesting! My additions: Our 5th grade male teacher loved to comment about and took great interest in the physical development of his female students...ick. He could be distracted from giving a test if the boys brought up spying on the high schoolers who 'got busy' at the local reservoir. The teacher would ask very specific detailed questions about what the boys saw when they spied. I don't think any of us thought to tell someone. I had a chem teacher who meant well but all he did was keep telling us how hard he worked at making overhead projector sheets for us (it's how he lectured). It was weird. He got ill and for months we had a parade of subs, none of which knew anything about chemistry. dh also had a violent band director who threw stands etc and even threw dh's instrument across the room once. dh saw him as an adult and this guy told him "I always hated how talented you were". My best teacher was my french teacher. One of the guys in our upper level class loved to write song lyrics on the chalkboard (in English). One day he was writing out "My girl"...our teacher started humming, then singing and we all joined in, some doing backing vocals all of us dancing...it was the closest I've ever come to living in a musical.
  10. Script Frenzy/Camp NaNoWriMo: 66% completed!

  11. #1 or #10...all the teenage girls I know would vote this way too!
  12. Omg! I never thought of trying to make 'crack' cookies at home! Dangerous to even consider...
  13. Writing a script for Camp NaNoWriMo...dreadfully behind par

  14. Agree with pp...be sure to check with hoa. Also some trees do better near sidewalks etc because of their roots. Some can mess up paving. A local arboretum should have a help desk.
  15. Yep, 7 inches! We started bailing out our basement at 4am. I went to bed at 7am but poor dh still had to work.
  16. basement is taking in water because our street is flooding...oh joy!

    1. TGHEALTHYMOM

      TGHEALTHYMOM

I live on a hill and have a huge mess to clean out...again! I feel your joy*

  17. Just my two cents: I picture a woodcut style. A circle with the whisk and spoon in the center and 4th Street around the top of the circle and cafe & bakery around the bottom.
  18. Thanks for posting. This looks interesting!
  19. Our school always did brandy, wine or beer glasses for prom so a shot glass doesn't phase me at all. I think a lot of people collect shot glasses so it sort of makes sense.
  20. I like the sound of the relocation person. Presumably this is someone the company has used before. They should be well versed on helping people get to the area to settle safely while learning the area. Might they be able to help with a short-term furnished apartment while you learn the area, traffic patterns etc?
  21. I can understand your daughter wanting to serve since she is benefitting esp. since she's service oriented. At our public school, service hours are required so we build that into our curriculum. Maybe she could plan something as part of her schooling. She shouldn't be comparing/criticizing/guilting you but perhaps when the dust clears and that part is dealt with... If her strength was math would you limit her extra math work? It sounds like her strength is service and her plan is to work in a helping profession...this might be a strength you need to give more time to for her.
  22. This might be a helpful site: http://www.chicagoparent.com/ I think there is a Lego Discovery Center in Schaumburg but I've never been or heard any reviews.
