  1. I’m sorry the news wasn’t what you were hoping to hear. I’m lifting you and your DH up in prayer today.
  2. Our favorite casserole is our version of a Mexican casserole. Not healthy, but good! Brown 1 lb ground beef. Add: 1 small can red enchilada sauce 1 small can diced green chilies 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can Ranch style beans, drained (can use black beans if preferred) Cumin, garlic salt, chili powder Warm that together. Then layer: Corn tortillas Meat mixture Shredded cheese Repeat til pan is full. (9x13) Bake for about 45 minutes at 375. Tastes best if you let it sit for at least 20 minutes after it cooks.
  3. Yay for your DS! Glad he had a great day! You did good. :)
  4. Mine would like to zone out with electronics during that afternoon time, but they’re not allowed on until 4:30. They like to: Play basketball in the driveway (basketball goal has been the best money spent on outdoor stuff) Trampoline If it’s after 3:00-ish, they’ll play with some neighbors that have gotten home from school Board games Lego occasionally Art occasionally Argue lol Made up games (obstacle courses, spy, etc)
  5. Frog and Toad Morris the Moose Elephant and Piggie maybe these would work? They were well-loved here!
  6. Yep, exactly. If I could put it in homeschool terms, I’d say the FRG is like busy work worksheets...some people love them, but they’re just not worth my time. 😂
  7. Well, this may be an unpopular sentiment among some, but I’m going to express my opinion straight out. Quit. It’s not worth your time. It’s not worth most people’s time. Obviously, this is just my opinion. Signed, AD Military spouse for 13 years
  8. I’m so very sorry for your loss.
  9. Mabel Sophie Congratulations! 😊 ETA: Oops! Sophie has ‘ee’!
  10. Congratulations! I guess you’ll need to change your user name now too! 😊
  11. My dermatologist recommended this one, and I really like it, especially for the summer or when you need lightweight (such as over your heavier moisturizer). https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002MSN3QQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1517506427&sr=8-2&keywords=elta+md+clear They make another one that I like and am using currently, but it’s tinted and quite a bit thicker. It’s not lightweight/sheer at all. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C8FVZZY/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1517506540&sr=8-4&keywords=elta+md&dpPl=1&dpID=31ec-%2BHsXdL&ref=plSrch
  12. Good luck! Praying for a safe and healthy mom and baby!
  13. You can go to Zaner Bloser fonts plus online and make copy sheets for him using any words, letters, etc that you want. You can also set the line size by grade. Maybe set it to K so you get nice, big letters until he has mastered that size.
  14. Ok...that sounds like something I wouldn’t like then! 😂
  15. The science is in the enrichment guide and loosely tied to the weekly read aloud. It’s not just reading books, though. There are little projects, demonstrations, etc. There is a list of *additional* books to read to expand on the science topic, but it’s definitely more than just reading. I found it to be a better use of time to do the little science study, and then only add in books if we were particularly interested in that topic. I thought it was just enough and also fun for first grade. :) Examples: (my summary, directions in the book are much more detailed) Week 11 Study islands Gives directions for how to build a volcano. Week 13 Review directions N, S, E, W Draw or find a simple map and label directions from one point to another. Week 31 Define and discuss clouds (cirrus, stratus, etc) Indentify in the sky HTH!
  16. Have you (or anyone!) tried this? I always read online how good it is, but I’ve never had the nerve to buy a can just to try one cup. It sounds like it could maybe?? be one you like. ?? https://www.worldmarket.com/product/cafe-du-monde-coffee-and-chicory.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=Search
  17. We moved from a state that allows pharmacists to give the flu shot to children to a state that does NOT allow it. It’s a big PTA.
  18. Oh my goodness! She is so super-cute!
  19. Me: coffee with a hearty dose of cream :) typical and daily Oldest DS: cold oats with lots of nutritious things mixed in (my good eater; typical breakfast) Middle DS: Rice Krispies w/whole milk, toast w/butter (my picky eater and typical—likes plain food, carb-y stuff) Youngest DS: got the last Krispy Kreme donut! and a glass of milk (donuts NOT typical) :) I’ll eat early lunch-time. My favorite and typical is a toasted corn tortilla, salsa, fried egg, tiny bit of cheese on top. Yum!
  20. Hid it behind a shrub? Who knows?!! That’s weird to not just walk it back to the car.
  21. We tried it about 3 years ago. I bought the whole deluxe package. We never used the deluxe stuff at all (art cards, read aloud books, CDs). Pros: -The kids really enjoyed it, especially the hands-on stuff (coloring the timeline pieces, projects, etc) and making the timeline. -They learned and retained some of it. -I liked the TM and how it told me exactly what to read and when. Cons: -Too much for me to do. Too many books to juggle, too many projects, too much time spent for history. Of course, this is for *us*, YMMV. -Didn’t like Streams of Civilization -I’m a box checker, so I wasn’t good at just ‘letting it go’ if things didn’t get finished. We quickly started falling behind and dropped the whole thing by Christmas. :/ It’s a lovely program and definitely worth trying if it looks like something you and your family would enjoy. I haven’t sold mine yet because I’m still hopeful we will try it again someday!
  22. Those were one of the sets I had looked at. Thanks for the input!
  23. Wow...I can’t believe all of the Corelle users for campers! Good info about the pillowcases as covers too. Thanks!
  24. Jumped from a diving board.
  25. A drying rack sounds awesome. Do you have a link to yours? Most of our trips are beach, so lots of wet clothes hanging everywhere. This sounds like a great solution. Do they take up much room, or do you put yours outside?
