Having a Level 10, training Elite 12 yo, I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes I wish I had never put dd in gymnastics, but then I feel incredibly guilty, because she is so talented and loves it so much. I think your perspective as a previous gymnast is worth some weight, but I also believe that some kids are made for that sport and have the drive and will to excel. But you're right, it is incredibly expensive, both time and money wise.
It sounds from your post like your dd got her mama's genes. :001_smile: Sometimes the best thing is to put kids like that in the gym to keep them from hurting themselves. Only you know if it is the right move for your dd and your family. If she has a gift for the sport, and you don't intend to let her progress, I wouldn't let her take at all. It is HARD to look them in the eye and say no when the coaches are begging for her to join team, and she wants to badly.
