  1. I prefer soft lighting, not pitch black, and not full light.
  2. I think some things are more expensive from scratch, and some are less. I do it because then I know exactly what is in the food I feed my family. I do it more for quality of the food than for cost savings.
  3.:party: What are you going to DO now that there are no more levels to attain?? :tongue_smilie:
  4. I am friends with her on Facebook. She and the kids seem to be fine. What makes you think she left? Is she just not posting much, or what? Just wondering if I missed something.
  5. I shower at night. I can't go to sleep unless I do (sometimes even IF I do, like right now). :001_smile:
  6. Yes, weird. My dh loves babies, but would never ask a stranger to hand him their baby.
  7. I had 3 kids when I started homeschooling (youngest was a toddler), and I had a service come in once a week. That continued until we adopted child #6. At that point I had a newborn, 9 month old, 2yo, 6yo, 11yo, and 13yo. I had a mother's helper come in every morning on school days until noon. She did housework, and helped with the babies if I needed her to. Once they were all school age, I divided up the chores and we worked together to do housework. It helps if you make sure they get in the habit (really young) of picking up after themselves. Our routine right now is to do chores before we start school. It takes 20-30 minutes. Laundry is twice a week. I keep it switched out and then fold/put away after school or after dinner. They do their own sheets weekly. Many hands make light work. :001_smile:
  8. Google Chef's hand and dish soap. I have a hard time putting links on my iPad. It would work, but it is a little pricey.
  9. I am so glad he is okay. I know that was scary. :grouphug::grouphug:
  10. I am a white mother of two adopted black daughters, and have a gay sister who I love dearly and am close to. I am not a bigot, and once more, I do not hate anyone. According to my beliefs, homosexuality is a sin, but not a greater one than my own. You can hold to a belief without hating.
  11. :iagree: Which is why I do not post on those kinds of threads. I know that my beliefs will be turned around to mean "hate." I do not hate anyone.
  12. :grouphug::grouphug: Praying for you.
  13. Having a Level 10, training Elite 12 yo, I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes I wish I had never put dd in gymnastics, but then I feel incredibly guilty, because she is so talented and loves it so much. I think your perspective as a previous gymnast is worth some weight, but I also believe that some kids are made for that sport and have the drive and will to excel. But you're right, it is incredibly expensive, both time and money wise. It sounds from your post like your dd got her mama's genes. :001_smile: Sometimes the best thing is to put kids like that in the gym to keep them from hurting themselves. Only you know if it is the right move for your dd and your family. If she has a gift for the sport, and you don't intend to let her progress, I wouldn't let her take at all. It is HARD to look them in the eye and say no when the coaches are begging for her to join team, and she wants to badly.
  14. I remember! I was staying up at night planning my wedding (the next month) and watching MTV!
  15. 15yo - dance company, 4 days a week (unless they are about to do a show). 13yo - rowing, 5 days a week 12yo - gymnastics, 6 days a week It costs a lot. :001_smile: Around $600 plus travel.
  16. I peel them. My sister makes hers with red potatoes and leaves the skin on. Those are yummy, too.
  17. Isn't the rule "if you're old enough to have worn it once, you're too old to wear it when it comes back in." I don't know if that's true or not, but I'll use it in this case. :001_smile: Those skinny girls don't have the mommy "pooch" that makes them look so awful.
  18. Please, please tell me that's not coming back in style!!
  19. Non-religious here, too. I do teach Bible, and have never heard that means I have to register as religious.
  20. I was 5, and I was snuggled up on the couch with my 17yo sister and the rest of the family watching on our black and white. This thread reminds me that I am old enough to be mom to a lot of you. :001_smile:
  21. My list is so long, I don't have time to list everything. I did get rid of a few things last week. I've decided giving it away is easier than selling.
