Can anyone comment on using GSWL within the CAP Latin sequence? Would it be helpful or redundant? We're using SSL now and planning to continue on with LfC & probably Latin Alive, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to do GSWL between SSL2 and LfCA?
Someone also mentioned it in the Black Friday sales thread, but I thought a separate thread might also be warranted.
Coupon code: "TURKEY" will get you 40% off through Monday!

Have you looked at the samples? There's a shorter and longer sentence option for the copywork and I think it's about 1/3 of the way through that it starts having them also copy 1 narration sentence per week.
My son was fine with it in 1st, but if you don't think your son would be then I wouldn't push it.
Maybe something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0439625459/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= would be helpful. I'm not familiar with the English book, but we've used some of the others in the series and found them helpful for a *very* basic understanding. The ones we have are colorful with more charts & bulleted lists than sentences & paragraphs.
Tin Man Press materials was what came to my mind too. I think they're going to have a Black Friday sale on some of their ebooks in case you're interested.
We have the scotch brand one as well. A friend gets me laminating pouches from Sam's. It's been awhile since I bought them, but I think they came out to be about 10cents each getting them there.
It's not what you're asking for, but you might like this book:

I can't give input on your SOTW plans, but The Complete Book of United States History by AEP is a resource you might consider. It looks like a workbook, but is more of a text.
It doesn't actually have narration scheduled (I don't think!) just a few comprehension questions for each section & 1 sentence of copywork.
A couple of the Draw Write Now books have American history topics that my son enjoyed in k.
Even though you don't like the rest of the curriculum, you might also check out the Elemental History book schedule.
To me it looks like it's geared for younger than 2nd grade, but it does look like a good book.
We've used Elemental science, but that's a curriculum. Are you looking for more of just a book to read with a few fun projects?
We didn't totally finish 100EZ, but did enough to get him reading. We moved on to AAS and it worked out well. I just thought of it as phonics from a different angle.
Yep, so frustrating! I was browsing as I had a few minutes here and there and had picked out a couple of things I was excited about but now can't buy. Surely the sale will still be on when they get things fixed.
