  1. Do you have a base ten set? Or some Legos you could use to make a ten bar + however many ones? I practiced with my son by giving him Legos to make into 10 bars and then a chart to fill in listing how many tens in one column, how many ones in the next and how many in total in a third column. That helped him to put it all together pretty quickly. A hundreds chart is a great reference too.
  2. I'm guessing it was planned to expire in December, but they've extended it. I've ordered this year and gotten free shipping on $50+
  3. The Usborne Children's Encyclopedia is the only one I have experience with, but we've been happy with it. It's actually all of their "First Encyclopedia of......"s combined, minus a page here and there.
  4. Wow! That's a lot of well organized info. I like that it includes images and documents. We're not doing American history yet, but I'll definitely keep it in mind when we do. Thanks!
  5. As long as you're not trying to do the two programs at the same time I think he'll be fine. I agree that 100ezl is definitely learning without knowing the rules, so a natural next step would be learning the rules. Hopefully he'll have some mental "Aha!" moments :)
  6. I don't think it's unimportant, but we're a military family who've lived in 5 states in 8 years, so it's hard for me to want to give it much attention, knowing that we'll move again soon, And there are just so many other things I want to cover with them that state history is way down the list. I also took a full year of state history in ps myself, and I didn't grow up in an interesting state, lol. My plan is to spend a little extra time studying the state we live in when we do American history.
  7. I just have the cheap scotch laminator, but I've been totally happy with it. Can you give some examples of how you'd like it to be versatile? Mine's simple and I wouldn't consider it versatile, but it's done everything I've ever needed it to.
  8. No, but I wish I did! I'll be following to see if anyone else knows of any.
  9. We aren't using work boxes right now, but I'm thinking about it for next year. I will say that I've heard bad things about the rainbow colored ones though. If you're stuck on the rainbow ones Walmart has a set online that looks very very similar to the ones you linked to on amazon for $30, search for Mainstays 10-drawer trolley cart. They get mixed reviews, but I'd for sure order from Walmart before Amazon, so you could take them back if they didn't work out.
  10. We couldn't afford a Dyson, so we got a Shark (the older model). We've had it about 4 years and I'm still happy with it.
  11. So many good ideas here! And some I need to look into for my own 3yo. We haven't read them yet, but another series that was highly recommended to me were the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books.
  12. We do the "bed" technique with the thumbs up as well. It's been an easy solution for my guy.
  13. Good to know! I'm new here too and just trying to figure things out. Hi Denise!
