  1. Stovetop here too. I couldn't tolerate a pot, cast iron skillet, or even spoon rest on the stovetop, but the tea kettle doesn't bother me.
  2. And if the OP's info is still the same, I'm almost positive she has a Costco nearby now. ;)
  3. I only keep a spreadsheet for the year I'm buying/planning for. After we're off and running it disappears. I use it to determine what we can afford and to get an idea of what to budget for the future, but I don't have any long term need to know what I spent. And my DH definitely doesn't need to see it all listed. :D
  4. We've used xtramath.com and the math wars card game.
  5. I make mine in muffin tins using this recipe. I'm not overly fond of the texture of meatloaf, but the muffin tins really help. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Meatloaf-Muffins/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=meatloaf%20muffins&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1
  6. It would bother me a little bit, but I'd probably get over it pretty quick. It's more the thought of *particular* people in our lives/pasts that it creeps me out to think about than worrying about strangers or burglary. I just went through our past 5 addresses (that covers the last 5 years for us) and the most you can see is my vehicle with blurred out plates at one house.
  7. I just ordered the teacher's manual & student packet, then made my own letter tiles. We've been fine without everything else. And actually my son, who was 5 when we started AAS, requested that we stop using the tiles after about a month, making me really glad I hadn't spent the money on the "real" tiles. I know it's probably odd, but he found using the tiles tedious and preferred to just write the words on a dry erase board, or on paper.
  8. The Rubbermaid easy find sets have some pieces that do that. Not sure of exact sizes though. http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-50-Piece-Easy-Find-Storage/dp/B002RSO2PW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386270589&sr=8-2&keywords=rubbermaid+storage+containers
  9. For me it's faster. I definitely don't print slowly, but just needing to lift the pen so frequently and keep my eyes on the paper to verify the starting point for each letter slows me down when compared to how quickly I can write something down in cursive. And yes I want my kids to be able to sign their names and read cursive.
  10. I'm not sure about either of the products you mentioned but my oldest son sits on a balance disk. I've considered a ball but I think it would just be asking for trouble with him.
  11. I wear one everyday and would feel naked without it. I don't keep my cell phone on my body, so my watch is much more convenient. I also have small wrists, but wear a metal watch that I was able to take enough links out of to make it fit properly. I've tried the "bracelet watch" thing in the past and that drove me crazy.
  12. For WWE we combine the 4 weekly lessons into 2 days. FLL we're a bit inconsistent with, but I'd say we get at least 3 lessons done per week.
  13. We've waited until 13-17 wks w/ each. We've lost a few pregnancies along the way, so I'm always cautious. It's not that I want to suffer in private should the worst happen, but having to "untell" every.single.aquintance is not something I want to have to do.
  14. Yes, I live in the U.S. and buy eggs at a grocery store. They've been washed and should be kept refrigerated.
  15. Only DH and medical personnel. I wish I had a mom who I'd be comfortable having there, but I don't.
  16. Elemental's Adventures in America history curriculum has a coloring page for each week.

  18. Here are the 2 we have: http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com/follow-the-directions-draw-write-activities-mkt9728
  19. Draw Write Now & the Usborne drawing books are the best beginner ones I've found. There are also a couple of Scholastic books that you can get in ebook format on the teacher express website. I think they're even having a dollar days sale right now.
  20. We also use a lodge cast iron one and have been very happy with it. It's great for camping too. There are 2 different sizes so if you go with a lodge one make sure you measure before you order. Or they may still sell them instore at Walmart (that's where we got ours) if you wanted to be able to return it just in case.
  21. I have no idea (we're not there yet) but when you decide on something can you post about it. :) Are you using all of MCT?
  22. I'd move on to a phonics based spelling program. AAS is what we use, but there are plenty of others.
  23. History and science for us. With history there are just so many tangents and good supplemental books out there that we frequently don't know when to stop. The issue with science is that even when I think we're done my son will come up with a related question and some way he wants to investigate it, and, and...... I know these are good things so I don't want to discourage him but there are only so many hours in the day and other subjects we need to cover.
