  1. We used to get some every year, but since I can now go into any grocery store and buy "thin mints" and "caramel delights" (the only two we ever bought to begin with) for WAY cheaper, we don't bother anymore even though our niece is a GS.
  2. Yes we allow it, as DH and I both drink it so I feel it would be hypocritical to not allow DS to as well. Up until around 3 or 4 he could have a sip here and there, but he wasn't allowed to sit down and drink his own soda until he was 4-5+. I would prefer for him to drink kool-aid, water, or milk, though, so I always offer those choices first. He has MAYBE 2 sodas a week, if that?? I am another that prefers the taste of water, but I do go through kicks of drinking cherry coke or cream soda. DH only drinks soda. :glare:
  3. Which would you choose? We can't get either where we live now b/c we live in the middle of nowhere and have satellite internet and therefore limited download speed and allowance, but we will be able to once we move next week. We had Netflix before we moved here, and I liked it and used it all the time, but Hulu didn't exist back then. Can you do the same things with Hulu that you can with Netflix? I'm talking like streaming movies, and episodes of tv shows...stuff like that. Are there any tv shows you have noticed that one or the other doesn't carry? How current are the tv shows on Netflix? Also...Hulu or Hulu Plus? What is the difference?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Do we have twins that were separated at birth?? Seriously, you just described my son to a T, every single thing. My son (will turn 14 on Monday) has a hard time following two step directions at times. Some days I have more patience for it than others. I do my best not to make him feel bad about it, but like you my husband doesn't have a lick of patience for it. My son is very sensitive as well, and even little comments will hurt his feelings, and sometimes DH will go off on him for it. The thing is, getting mad at him doesn't make a bit of difference, b/c DH doesn't see that.
  5. I would trust a rented carseat, you never know what it has been through or if it has been involved in an accident. I would just bring my own and gate check them. We have done that as well, and had no problems. The problem with buying one once you get there...how do you get to Target, and once you are done with your trip what do you do with it? Kwim?
  6. We don't have a dishwasher, so everything is handwashed. I voted "They pile up in the sink until meal prep or meal is done. Then they're dealt with" and "Never. We handwash everything immediately." I was having a BIG problem with my family and dishes piling up, so I instituted a rule that all dishes must be washed by the person using them as soon as they are finished. If they have time to take the dish to the sink, they have time to wash it rather than just leave it there. The only dishes that pile up are the meal prep dishes, but if I have time (depending on how hands on I have to be with the meal) I will wash those as I go.
  7. The shrug was b/c my double sink is not teeny and it fits all of my dishes (with the exception of my one cookie sheet), so it isn't a big deal. Our sink is not piled high with dishes either, we keep up on them fairly well...we all wash as they are used...but it is still nice to be able to have dishes soaking on one side and still be able to rinse vegetables or drain pasta. If I'm busy cooking a big meal, I'd rather not take up counter space with dirty dishes.
  8. No, we do not have a dishwasher. Everything gets washed by hand, including the big stuff. The only thing that doesn't fit in the sink well is our one cookie sheet (I still manage to clean it), but everything else fits just fine. *shrug*
  9. I like having a double sink b/c we wash dishes by hand. I can fill one side up to soak some dishes, while I'm washing in the other sink. I also like it b/c if I'm making a meal that creates a lot of dishes, but I need to drain pasta, I can have the dirty dishes in one side, and can drain in the other.
  10. Just go! :) With our last church (in our hometown) and our current one, we just decided one day to check them out, so we just showed up for service. No one questioned us at all, but both were bigger churches so we kind of blended in.
  11. BEAUTIFUL pictures, and an even more beautiful cat!! I love Cornish Rex cats!
  12. You have my permission to go off on her. I would be absolutely LIVID. Maybe she needs you to go off on her, to get the point across??
  13. This is Kody. He is an 11 month old, 4.5lb Miniature Pincher/Toy Poodle mix. His mother and father were both owned by my SIL. We clip all of his fur except on his head, otherwise all of his fur would be the same as on his head. He's the best, smartest dog ever....but I'm biased! LOL In this first picture, he is wearing the sleeve of my son's old sweatshirt! LOL His winter coat
  14. I wear mine just about every day. Occasionally I will take the off if I'm separating eggs or doing something else messy and I may forget to put them back on for a day or two, but otherwise I wear them all the time.
  15. Our dog is really active, and doesn't sleep a ton, but he is only 11 months old so still a puppy. He spends his days laying in front of the space heater, chewing on chewies, asking to go out to potty every two seconds, playing with the cat, playing with his toys, just generally running around and being cute. He kind of cycles through the things he does on a regular basis and is REALLY good at keeping himself entertained, but he has a TON of toys and chewies. He also sleeps in the sun on the back of the sofa (we call him our solar powered puppy! lol) and on a blanket next to me on the sofa, but usually only when I'm sitting there with him. He follows me everywhere, so wherever I go, he goes. If I go to the bathroom, he is right there...if I go to the bedroom to fold laundry, he's sitting next to me. The only time he is really in his crate is when we are unable to supervise him (if we are in the shower after DS goes to bed, for example) or if we leave the house. Otherwise he has free reign. My parents have an older golden retriever, and he sleeps almost all day long. He has some periods of play, but not much.
  16. Would the spray on window etching stuff work? We had a giant window in the bathroom of our old house, and we caught our neighbor standing at the FAR BACK corner of her lot to peep through it, so we sprayed that on it. It gave it a "fogged" look, and still let a TON of light in, but gave privacy. You can't pull it back, though...
  17. I bite my nails, so I never paint them b/c they would look horrid within a day. LOL I also leave my nails short b/c they are fragile and break easily. I do keep my toenails painted, though, and I usually paint them some shade of pink or red b/c that is what my DH likes. ;)
  18. My great grandfather lived to be two months shy of 100 years old, and he had a great-great-great grandchild, and NUMEROUS grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren! My son knew him for 8 years. His daughter, my grandmother, is still alive and kicking at 83. On the other hand, my husband's PARENTS were in a motorcycle accident and died when he was 3. You just never know.
  19. I wish I could, but I have an autoimmune disease which automatically rules me out. :( I looked into becoming a donor in the past, and I'm sad that I can't be one.
  20. Yes, but only b/c we went with my parents...twice. Should have learned the first time. :cursing: Other than that, we loved them and I'm glad we were able to go. :)
  21. We get the generic grocery store brand, and I never have any side effects, other than feeling better. *shrug*
  22. I have that as well! Every time I puke, I pass out...part of the reason why I just end up sleeping in the bathroom. I found that it works to hit the toilet if I basically lay on it and hug it. Sounds weird, but it is better than waking up with vomit everywhere BUT the toilet. lol
  23. DS had Salmonella last year, so we had a week of vomiting. I honestly can't remember any other time he has vomited, he just doesn't get sick (for example, while we were visiting for Christmas, DH, FIL, our nephew...who then passed it on to his sister after we left...and I all got REALLY sick with some horrendous cold, but DS never got it). He was given a bowl to puke in, but he tried his best to make it to the bathroom. When I was younger, I just slept in the bathroom (I liked the feeling of the cold floor, it made me feel better), so there wasn't a worry about making it, but I did keep a puke bucket next to me if I was in bed. lol I got sick once in college, and all I had to puke in was a trash can, and to this day I can't stand the smell of a trash can and CANNOT puke in one.
  24. I'm old school...I stick to Nyquil and Dayquil. ;)
  25. My MIL got me one for Christmas. It's called Beginner's Yoga, by Gaiam. (you can get it cheaper at Target, just wanted to give you a link to check it out...) It has 4 dvd's - "Beginner's Yoga", "Yoga Mix" (combination of yoga and dance), "Yoga Stretch", and "Firm and Flex Yoga". I REALLY like it!! I think it would be perfect for you. :)
