  1. I had really good luck with Zz-Quil, which you can buy over the counter. It is basically just liquid benedryl, according to my pharmacist friend. It worked well, and I slept through the night, but it made me ITCH like crazy. It was a weird side effect for me, not something most people experience. I have tried so many different thing, including Ambien, but that made me feel like a zombie int he morning. Good luck with whatever you choose!
  2. I prefer the flavor and texture of canned over frozen, so we buy a lot of canned food. Green beans, peas, corn, carrots, beets, tomatoes, peaches, pears, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, tuna, corned beef hash, spam, soups, pasta dishes (ravioli, macaroni beef, spagetti o's, etc), enchilada sauce, olives, chicken and beef broth, pumpkin, sauerkraut, and a few different kinds of beans. I'm sure there are more, but this is what I could think of off the top of my head that we kerp on hand or buy on a regular basis.
  3. I'm so sorry Sadie!! Jean, that sounds painful. :( How long does it normally last?
  4. They are partial complex seizures, and the doctor never figured out what causes them, and the medication he put me on never stopped them (it just doped me up so much I couldn't drive), so I just have to deal. Thankfully I don't get them as often now as I did when they first started 3 years ago. They tend to happen most often when I am really stressed out. I am a nanny for 13 week old twins (I hope it is okay that I am still posting here!), and one of them has been screaming non stop all day since Thursday, so I have been a bit stressed. LOL
  5. I can't edit on the mobile app...forgot to mention that up until yesterday I hadn't had any since Christmas time. When I go that long I tend to get them in clusters. I'm surprised I'm not getting multiple per day, so I guess I should consider myself lucky. :/
  6. I had a pretty good seizure yesterday, and an even worse one today. I don't convulse so it doesn't affect what I'm doing when it happens, but they make me feel terrible. Nauseous, dizzy, hot, headache, and the bad ones affect my vision slightly. Afterward I am completely wiped out and all I want to do is sleep, but since I'm at work I can't. :(
  7. I inverted it, and there is a VERY faint line. Congrats!!
  8. ...forgot to say that I make $500 per week as a nanny right now, but we live in a lower cost of living area and that is a fairly high wage for around here. I have 16 years of experience.
  9. I charged $200 per week for an infant when I had my home daycare.
  10. My niece is in 2nd grade, and she loves books. We were over there shortly before Christmas and she was reading me an old Peanuts comic book, so for Christmas I got her s Calvin and Hobbes book and she LOVED it. She also loves the series that are made for that age, like The Babysitters Club, and books by Roald Dahl. We have always liked getting our nieces and nephews books as gifts. Good luck!!
  11. I only like Thin Mints and Caramel Delites. We only buy them to help our niece, otherwise we wouldn't b/c you can get both of those at the grocery store for much cheaper now.
  12. Tv, yes (his grandmother bought it for him, otherwise he wouldn't...we don't have one in our room). Computer, no (we require him to be on the computer in our presence). Game system, yes (Wii).
  13. I do stress dose for them, but I get ocular migrains so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I have seizures (had one this morning after my last post actually...the first since Cristmas) and I don't stress dose for those, though.
  14. I am doing pretty well today, MUCH better than yesterday, that is for sure. I was tired, sore, and grumpy yesterday...then to have DH think he is being cute by pretending to go to bed at 6pm, right after I got home, on Valentines Day. I wasn't amused in the slightest. Actually, it had quite the opposite affect on me. :/
  15. Strep doesn't usually come with cold syptoms. I have had Strep a millon times and a sore throat was usually my only symptom. A bad cold with drainage can leave my throat feeling just as bad, spots and everything, but it usually isn't strep then.
  16. My BIL broke his toe last week by stepping on it while walking up the stsirs. It caught on the edge of the stair and he stepped down with his full weight on it. It isn't the first time he's done that. All of the siblings have super long toes, but his are the longest and he breaks them all the time. LOL I would go have it checked.
  17. I think it is funny, but I also like South Park and Family Guy (don't like Simpsons.) Beevis and Butthead started I think when I was in high school, and I have watched it from the beginning.
  18. I don't get adrenal storms, but I get those exact same symptoms when I get really stressed out or when I would otherwise use a lot of adrenaline (if I were a "normal" person). I usually can't come down from it until I take extra steroids. It doesn't happen very often b/c I'm usually hard to rattle, but I had one happen just a couple days ago. Mine is autoimmune (is yours? I have no clue how it works...) so that is how I was diagnosed. I have a really hard time waking up also. It is worse, the more sleep I get. If I only get a couple hours, I can usually wake up fine and am awake the whole day, but if I get a good night sleep I can't wake up and have a hard time all day. Stress dosing is hard for me too. I usually only take extra if I hurt myself, if I'm sick, if I get really stressed out (like I mentioned above), if I feel horrible when I wake up, etc. I don't take extra unless I REALLY need to, though, and even then DH usually has to force me. I only take them in the morning, two Cortef. I don't do the 3rd one like I am supposed to, otherwise I cannot fall asleep when I go to bed. I get by pretty well on only 20mg per day, though. I have tried taking the afternoon dose, and didn't notice any difference. My doctor said that the afternoon dose would help me wake up in the morning, but not if I can't fall asleep to begin with! LOL I'm not affected too much by the AD, but if I forget to take my medicine my mood is GREATLY affected. They actually thought that I was bipolar before I was diagnosed with this, and the symptoms went away once I started my meds. If I don't take them, I act bipolar again. DH can always tell when I haven't taken them and refuses to deal with me until I take my meds and they kick in, even though I usually can't tell other than my patience is really thin. I started out taking prednisone when I was first diagnosed, but it made me have really bad anger problems and massive weight gain, which both went away once I was put on Cortef. I have never had a crisis in the 6 years since I was diagnosed. I've read that it isn't supposed to be hereditary, but oddly enough my great grandmother had it. My SIL's (DH's brother's wife) sister has it as well!
  19. Yeah, ours is just for the candle, whatever mail came that day that we haven't gone through yet, and various other stuff. We never serve food from it, and it rarely even has drinks.
  20. Can't edit...I forgot to mention that we don't eat off of our coffee table, it just holds an occasional drink (but not often, I prefer the end table for that). That is what the kitchen table is for.
  21. I voted slippers snd socks for both, but honestly it doesn't matter to me if the even have those on. We dont wear shoes in the house anyway. I put my feet on the coffee table in socks or bare feet, company or not. I'm not about to be hypocritical snd tell DS he has to do anything differently.
  22. In our last kitchen all of the lower cabinets were drawers except for the corner lazy susan.. Big ones and little ones. I LOVED them! If I could build a custom kitch right now, it would have all drawers in the lower cabinets, and all open shelving above. My dream kitchen.
  23. My parent did and always have hated my DH. I can't repeat here what they have called him to his face. I come from a rich upper class family, his is lower middle class. When we met (I was 19, he was 21) he drove a truck delivering product to stores like Gap, Bath and Body Works, American Eagle, etc. My parents hated that and thought he was scum. They have never respected him or our relationship. My DH is a very honest, hard working man. He is a fantastic father and a wonderful husband. We have been together for 15 years, martied for almost 13, and he is my soul mate. He has been nothing but kind to them, so he doesn't deserve the way they treat him. Unless there are issues with abuse or such, I do not plan to step in or say anything and will completely support him. Even if it turns out to not be the best relationship in the long run, it is his life and HE needs to live and learn through those mistakes. Just b/c I don't like his choice in mate doesn't mean they aren't perfect for him, either.
