  1. You probably already have one, but I've found a programmable thermostat to help tremendously. We, also, turn off everything that might use electricity, especially at night. Chargers, especially, used to be left plugged in when not in use by my teens. We try to run the dryer and use the stove when it's cooler outside to avoid heat build up, but we live in Texas.
  2. My younger daughter makes chili lime chicken in the slow cooker. It's very easy and delicious. Cover chicken breasts with as much chili power as you like, then add the juice of 5 or so limes. Cook on low for about 5 hours. Remove the chicken and shred. Return the chicken to the slow cooker and add either canned or frozen corn. Serve on tortillas with sour cream, lettuce & cheese.

  5. Please discuss political issues in the appropriate social groups. Starting a new thread about the merits of the EPA without reference to any political action would be okay.
  6. Welcome to the forums. Try posting on the chat board. You're likely to get more responses there. Since we're a homeschooling community, tell us a bit about your homeschool.
  7. Please limit discussion to issues. No political discussions regardless of the country!
  8. I would email the teacher and ask. The Potter's School is Christian though. My daughter's class begins with a scripture reading and prayer. I would ask detailed questions before you register your son.
  9. I don't have any details, but my teen daughters visited Pittsburg last year and fell in love with the city. Both said the area is beautiful - cold though.
  10. I'm so very sorry! Praying for all of you. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  11. After looking through the website information, I'm still confused about how the live class works. My daughter definitely needs a teacher for physics. Is the class a typical lecture format? I would appreciate more information from anyone familiar with the class.
  12. I wish I had know about this for my daughter's graduation! Even though it's a bit expensive, it would have saved so much time and sanity.
  13. I miss HEM as well! It was a wonderful resource. So glad you are happy now!
  14. I'm so very sorry. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  15. Both my daughters took the Paragraph writing class. I thought the class was good for teaching structure with a grammar review. Both of my girls thought it helped improve their writing skills. My younger daughter didn't like the format of the class at all. My older was indifferent. The teachers' almost always recommend students take the 2nd part of paragraph writing, but it's the same material with different writing assignments. We opted to stop with the first part. My older daughter also took the SAT essay writing and found it very helpful.
  16. The thread isn't locked. There were a couple of posts that were political. Domestic violence is a topic that I hope will be discussed.
  17. No partisan political discussion please. See rules.
  18. My 2000 Toyota Camry has 183,000 miles. My car is as old as my younger daughter! I'm praying it keeps on going.
  19. You might check out Jeremiah 17:8 Homeschool online facebook page. It was set up for former Landry teachers to connect with their students, but I believe a few online schools mentioned there were interested in more teachers.
