  1. Are you selling the mobile home only or the mobile home and the land? It's really hard in our area to finance a single wide mobile home too. I was wondering if you could sell the land only depending on how much the mobile home is worth. A friend had a similar issue and resorted to some type of rent to purchase agreement where my friend carried the mortgage. It worked okay in her case, but I would not go that route myself. Too many potential issues.
  2. If you have senior citizens 62 plus in your household, the cost of the lifetime American the Beautiful pass will increase from $10 to $80 on August 28th. https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass
  3. When I was actively doing mystery shops, I aimed for $50 to $100 / month. $50 was fairly easy to reach in my area. Your area may be different. You might also look for research studies. Last year over 12 months, I earned $1000 for participating in a study on an anti-aging serum. My teen daughter made $350 for participating in an acne study. This summer, the studies seem few and far between. I also do Swagbucks for gift cards, but I don't earn much.
  4. Here's the link to a couple of mystery shop forums if you're still interested. https://www.mysteryshopforum.com/ http://www.volition.com/mystery.html
  5. I do mystery shops occasionally. As others have mentioned, the pay is often low for the time. Also, remember you would be a contract worker responsible for your own taxes. Rarely, did I make enough to make a difference in my taxes. People forget to consider expenses such as gas and wear on your vehicle. If I schedule a shop, I try to be sure it's close or on the route where I am going that day. Still, it's nice when the payments come in. ETA: I still do oil change shops. I've done so many, they're easy for me and I would pay for the oil change anyway.
  6. I'm so sorry your experience with medicaid has been terrible. I don't know where in Texas you live, but my experience with medicaid is nothing like yours. When I lost my job during the economic downturn, my daughters qualified for Texas medicaid. It took a bit a paperwork, but nothing unusual. Once they were on, I had to submit updated information yearly. Homeschooling never came up. I was asked if they were in school and their grade level. Since homeschools in Texas are considered private schools, I answered truthfully that they were in school. Of course, I couldn't qualify unless I was pregnant. Health care is so important. I'm strongly in favor of universal health care.
  7. Please no back & forth comments directed toward individual posters!
  8. I live in Texas as well. It is extremely difficult for adults to qualify for medicaid. Otherwise, your insurance sounds average to me.
  9. I only keep track of major tests and projects, but our state doesn't require any reporting. My daughters will be dual credit this year - makes keeping up with grades a lot easier.
  10. No comments / attacks directed toward anyone. Please stay on topic.
  11. I'm not very good at sewing, but my older daughter is. I've just asked her to make me one for Christmas. Or maybe both girls will split the cost of buying one. I didn't think about buying the size to fit the person rather than the bed. Thanks for all the information.
  12. Thank you all very much! Last week, we bought a small picture frame with a connected shadow box kit from Bed, Bath & Beyond. The kit contained "clay" to use for a paw print. My kitty didn't seem to mind and now we have something tangible to remember him by. We didn't want his ashes back. I like the picture and paw print much better.
  13. I've often thought I would like a weighted blanket. I have insomnia and right now some work-related anxiety. The thought of some heavy over me sounds comforting. How do you choose the right blanket? The prices seem high to me, but then again, everything seems expensive to me these days.
  14. My sweet 13 year old kitty crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. I miss him so much! A couple of months ago, he was diagnosed with an untreatable tumor. All we could do was try to keep him eating. He seemed stable until last week, when his condition began deteriorating rapidly. My 2 daughters and I stayed with him throughout the procedure this morning, holding him like a baby. The vet was wonderful and I'm glad he's no longer in pain. He was about 8 weeks old when we got him. He was my older daughter's kitty, but loved to sit on my lap. I'm plump and I guess softer. He would tuck his head under my chin and sit for as long as I could stay still. Last night, he sat that way with me for a good long while. It's amazing how much love an animal can give.
