  1. Ridemax!!! We've used it for multiple dl trips, once was on Christmas day. We never waited in a line longer than 15 minutes. It is fairly inexpensive and worth every penny!!! https://ridemax.com/
  2. I would delay the response and make it very short. Not ignore, but not high priority response either. Kwim?
  3. Interesting thought! Would you think the same thing about ending sounds? For example, last name ending with r.
  4. My girls may vote for this. They are big Sherlock fans. ;) I was actually thinking of this name this morning! Me too! We already have a Benjamin, that is the only reason it is out. :)
  5. I discuss purchases with dh when I am unsure or when the budget is tight. It is pretty much a moot point, though. He always agrees with my purchases and trusts me to use common sense. I do use a menstrual cup, but no matter how tight our budget is, he would always "allow" me basic hygiene and would even go to the store himself to purchase if I needed it. I have inherited small sums of money a couple of times. Even though he has inherited some and put his into the family budget, he asked me if I wanted mine in a separate account. Of course, I didn't. Mine went to the general savings/budget. The point is he had no desire to "control" how or if I spent money on any way. Our budget is made together and unless there is a big deviation that makes the budget need adjustment we rarely even mention anything financial. He pays the bills, I purchase groceries and household supplies. Discussion yes, micromanagement no.
  6. That isn't Benjamin and sounds good with the first name Joseph.
  7. Google "I'm bored" and you get some fun games. Also you can look up the Google doodle archive and play all the past Google doodles that have games attached.
  8. Yes and no. This past year was the first time we've taken most of November and December off. It does seem like it is taking a bit to get back to the full schedule again! We do school year round, with the exception of last summer. This summer will not likely be a full schedule, but a bit more than last.
  9. It looks like you can order them off Amazon. Can they just not be sold in brick and mortar stores?
  10. We own three. 2 basic ones and the one with the fancy pants camera built in. My complaint with the camera one is it delays between photos and I can't add an SD card. So the space the phone has is the space the phone has. Boo. Usability is simple, but the phone doesn't support a lot of the commonly advertised apps. Most apps are created for iphones and android. Poor Microsoft phone is left behind.
  11. Our dds have both flown alone at 15. One with a layover. We didn't pay for unaccompanied minor. I would check with your individual airline and airport. Neither needed ID's, though they had them. One had a driver's permit, the other a state issued ID. The airlines just said they didn't need them until 18. The only problem we did have was paying for things. We didn't think to give them a credit card or even a Visa gift credit card. Most airlines refuse cash at the terminal and on the plane. So if your minor wants a drink on the plane or needs to pay for checked luggage they will be out of luck without one. American Airlines was the worst!!!! My dd's flew to Florida from Oklahoma with a layover at 15 and 12. American required them to check a bag each, but they had no way to pay. I tried to pay over the phone with a credit card; American refused. They told me I needed to drive to the airport to pay. Hard to do when I was in OK and my dds were in FL!! I offered to drive to the airport in OK (20 minutes away from me) to pay. American refused. Finally, I was able to pay over the phone for the cost of luggage + $100 extra per child for "paying over the phone charge." Ridiculous!!!
  12. The elementary schools here used to be 9-3:45, so 6 hours and 45 minutes. The middle school started at 8 and the high school started at 7:30. Before school programs like band started at 6:30 am. Release times were also tiered. After I pulled my kids the district switched the times, now the high school starts at 9. I no longer know the end time.
  13. Pinterest has lots of ideas. Water bottles with labels removed. Tape paper crowns onto them for labels. Write Prince X or Princess X. Oriental trading has a great foam crown kit. It comes with 24 crowns with jewel and letter stickers. Purchase "boyish" foam stickers if you want to make them more prince friendly. Face painting. Cooking decorating. You can pre-make (or buy) cookies for them to ice and add sprinkles. Bonus if they are shaped to match the theme in some way.
  14. Something that dispenses breakfast. Why do my kids want to eat every morning? I just want to finish my cup of coffee first!! A breakfast dispenser would solve that. :D
  15. Does she like traditional Indian foods? I *think* they are generally vegetarian.
  16. Wasn't there a western like that? A man literally spanked a young woman. It's pretty popular, but I can't stomach it! ETA: Was it Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?
  17. My parents divorced shortly after my first birthday and both married other people within two weeks of my second birthday. My dad's new wife was my mother's previous best friend and her two daughters, my mom adopted two children with her new husband. I did feel out of place at both houses. I wasn't step-mom's daughter nor step-dad's daughter and was reminded of such. Regularly. I wouldn't say *never* remarry, but yes, the children should come first. When my mom remarried a second time it wasn't as tragic, though it probably should have been. I was living with my dad at the time and went to visit her for the summer then went to "camp" for a while. When I came back to her house, it was a new house in a new town with a new husband. Literally. Too much shock at once for a 15 year old. Sharing a bedroom wall as a 15 year old with a newly married parent...ugh. Divorcees should sort out their differences and not use their children as pawns. It only hurts the children. The truth comes out in the end. Always.
  18. The earthquakes are pretty recent, but apparently they used to be more common. http://www.koco.com/news/geologist-worldwide-seismic-uptick-responsible-for-oklahoma-earthquake-swarm/27118772 I remember being told stories in early elementary school of Oklahoma earthquakes and how large our fault lines are. Eta: Full disclaimer...the link is from July 2014. It doesn't necessarily represent my viewpoint. (Though it could ;) ) It's not posted to show why Oklahoma earthquakes are happening, it happened to be a link showing that the seismic activity is not just a recent thing.
