  1. I swear they grow legs and walk off. Seriously. What other explanation could there be?? :svengo:
  2. My favorites are Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar (and other Eric Carle)
  3. Do any who live in Scotland or Ireland have some tips for traveling there in May? Here is our itinerary: Edinburgh (4 nights) Stirling (1 night) Oban (1 night) Iona (2 nights) Glasgow (1 night) Dublin (3 nights) Athlone (3 nights) Galway City (2 nights) Clare (1 night) As far as activities, the trip is pretty much planned out (this is a university-sponsored trip). There will be some opportunities for free time, but not loads of open time. I'm especially looking for advice on what not to do or say so as to avoid offending locals as well as recommendations for clothing and shoes that will blend in with the locals and be suitable for the weather but also versatile (I'm from the PNW if that helps; I hear it is similar?) Is there anything I should specifically avoid aside from athletic shoes and graphic shirts? Anything that I should try to make sure I bring? However, I have never travelled internationally, so if there are other things you think important aside from clothing I am sure I will appreciate them very much as well. Y'all are fabulous - thank you! :)
  4. A teenage acquaintance of mine just switched to Evon Healy products. They are spendy but so far, results seem good. She has tried the standard big pharma drug solutions (topical only, not oral meds) and this seems to be better (in addition to being much healthier for the skin with less adverse effects). I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at the huge difference it has made already in only a couple weeks.
  5. If you like Indian, Gaylord's is excellent!
  6. I would go for a Brazilian style black bean dish like this or this. The second one is technically not a soup, but you could always thin it down with extra broth.
  7. I have heard good things about Vitamin E (topically) for scars. Just get the capsules (good quality) and break them and spread on the scars with your fingers. It doesn't smell good, but a girl I know who used to have bad scars swears by it.
  8. Even in the US, eggs from the store can be kept out for a significantly long time without problems.
  9. While I would of course defer to the personal preferences of each individual, it gets confusing. My cousin is blind. She would never say she "has blindness" or "has vision impairment". Blind gets the point across. Same with deaf. Another example: diabetes. Though you can say "has diabetes" plenty of people opt to just say "I'm diabetic." What about "dyslexic"? I hear that more often than "has dyslexia". If you think about it we identify ourselves like this all the time: "My daughter is a redhead" not "my daughter has red hair" though it could easily go that way as well. I mean, she's not LITERALLY her red hair. But that's a convention of speech to describe her having red hair.
  10. I agree with you. I have never once desired undergarments for a gift! I want to pick what I want!!
  11. I'm so so sorry. This is just heartbreaking. I would have been crying for sure. :crying: :grouphug:
  12. I totally would. Without a second thought. I'm not sure how PPs are getting 7 days refrigerated? When I read it I understood that she put it in the refrigerator on Friday and then made soup that night. That was two days ago...
  13. I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla wagon with 311,000. Still going strong!
  14. We don't know how much (if ever) he saw Euros...maybe that's why??
  15. I big puffy heart love the Chronicles of Narnia. They were my favorite books growing up.
  16. I do it without even having to think about it...
  17. I think I'd go with the BJ's bed because it comes with the trundle drawer - such a space-saver! ETA: oops, just saw you said you don't need the drawer... If I really had no use for the drawer I might go with the Ikea bed instead - I like the minimalist look and I feel like it seems the Ikea bed might take up less room from the photos, though who knows how accurate that actually would be.
  18. This! To us, 24 hours is a SHORT stomach bug!!! We also don't generally medicate for a stomach bug so that's normal to me. (This brings to mind the time when one of us got a three day stomach bug right after coming home after an appendectomy... Oy. That was one to remember.) Glad he's bouncing right back and hoping none of the rest of you catch it :)
  19. Check with your neighbors. The lady down the street brought over a package of mine a couple days ago that had been delivered to her.
