  1. We almost always state no gifts or ask for food donations for a food pantry for dc parties. 1. dc have quite a bit of stuff! 2. Economic times are still tough!!!! - we want the invitees to share in the bday fun, not a gift that may be a hardship or someone not to come b/c a gift just isn't in the family budget at that time. If our invitations state no gifts, dc do not open any gifts at the party. We have found that if we ask for food donations, it solves the whether or not to bring a gift dilemma. Sometimes kids come with a few bags of food each, which is great all around. The guest brought something, we don't have additional stuff & the food pantry receives needed donations. (I have been doing this for awhile now & have a big box by the front door for food, nobody notices what each guest brings.)

  7. We currently live in upstate NY & agree with pp who mentioned joining NYHEN. She should be able to get great advice from that group. :001_smile: My youngest dd (age 9) has an IEP & receives speech therapy through the local school district. She never attended public school but was able to get tested & receive services. I have no experience w/ 504 Plan but do know that as a homeschooler you are are able to request testing, have an IEP & receive services. Best of luck to her.
  8. Wow, haven't read all the responses, but all I could do is think WOW! We live in upstate NY & brick & mortar classes are still in session for the 2013-14 year. (no snow day make-up or anything, regular school year is just not over yet) We haven't even begun to think about the next school year; we are still busy with final exams, year end assessments & Regent exams.
  9. Congrats! What a lovely picture of her! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

  12. Really, it is okay to take a Book of Mormon from a hotel room? I am not a member of the LDS church, but would enjoy having a copy. For whatever reason, never thought it was available to take home from hotel. Now back to the OP & regular programming.
