  1. for years I bought my singapore math during their easter sale.
  2. I am a person of color and would not necessarily think it offensive, but just the kind of term my grandma would use :). However I don't keep track of politically correct trends.
  3. My five year old is in 106 and it's picked up pace. However, we take each day as it comes and don't necessarily do it daily. Of note, he uses math mammoth 1b also. I do a lot of games and use manipulative too.
  4. :grouphug: praying for your husband and wisdom for all taking care of him. Also praying for strength for you all.
  5. I am so pleased to have found this thread and have been reading it all weekend. I went back to do my psychiatry residency after homeschooling full time for 7 years. It has been tough but my husband and I have been able to make it work with a lot of help from a friend who homeschools. I also have a nanny mostly for my 5 year old. My older two are very independent and we do school in the evenings and weekends I am free. They all complete assignments during the day. We text back and forth during the day to keep them in check. My husband works full time too but he is more available as he has three non- clinical days and he is able to take the older ones with him sometime. We make it work but I can't wait to be done and start working part time.
  6. Thanks for the reminder, I have this book but forgot all about it. I'll be great as an aid for ds doing Singapore discovering math when he gets bugged down and for dd getting ready for algebra.
  7. We are using this and my dd 11/12 and ds12/13 have used it with success. We started with the 1997 edition but bought the newest edition so they could use the workbooks too. I wish there was a cd that went with it.
  8. We don't do extra copywork or spelling at the moment. I plan to start that when he finishes ETC. He is in 6 and at age 5 that is more than enough writing for him.
  9. Perhaps if you do something like the other poster suggested, leapfrog DVDs and add happy phonics which my son loved :). It would made it less like school and more fun. Another thing that helped us was timed lessons, usually 20 minutes but initially just 5 minutes. We also did most of our lessons on a dry erase board or with alphabet tiles and later word tiles.
  10. Thanks we love stack the states and just got this one.
  11. Thanks that looks good and I have "I kissed dating goodbye"
  12. Thank you so much for all your ideas. I just don't know what a typical health course contains.
  13. Any idea what to use for a health class for high school credit. Thanks
  14. My kids always love doing the last page. It is a big deal - worth a special treat :). They decorate the page etc. and we make a lot of fuss ( smiles, hugs etc).
