  1. I arrived at the store on Sunday 17th July morning with 3 children. Shopped as usual and bought my children 3 medium 4oz size gelattos. They went to the sitting area to eat the gelattos while I finished shopping. At the checkout point I paid for all the other items (totaling $67.81) but forgot to pay for the gelattos and went to put my cart back(in the store). I was approached by a lady who later identified herself as a security staff. She asked if the kids outside were mine and I replied in the affirmative and then remembered I had not paid for the 3 gelattos. I immediately told the security lady that just realized I hadn't paid for the gelattos and offered to pay at the customer service point. I was told not to worry, that going to the security office was just a formality. I followed her and she asked for my drivers license which I gave her. She then asked me to sign 2 forms as a formality. I read the form which indicated I had stolen the items from the store and was therefore banned from the premises of all whole food stores forever. Despite various appeals to the manager and the security staff that I had not left the store without paying, I had bought other items and paid for them. It was an oversight which I had tried to correct without prompting. All my appeals fell on deaf ears. I asked them if they've never seen a frazzled, forgetful mum before, but all these met with a cold "thank you for cooperating with us" reply. I insisted on paying for the items before leaving the store. I was not given a copy of the documents they bamboozled me into signing. I shop there every week for my son's food ( he has allergies to wheat, barley, soy, dairy and peanuts). I regularly but milk and yogurt in bulk and on a number of occasion have returned to the store to pay for items THEY forget to charge me for ( e.g. adding a 13th carton of milk when I buy a dozen but not charging me for it). It was an honest mistake which should have been obvious since I paid for the items in my cart and remembered immediately the lady mentioned my kids. What do you all think I should do about it? I am so upset as I have never felt so humiliated. Thanks.
  2. I told her to wait but she is doing it on her own, not as a " school " subject. She is reading through it in her own time. I'll encourage her to leave it for another year if it gets too challenging :001_smile:. The teaching company chemistry is on it's way to us.
  3. She is doing algebra 1 now. She has completed CLE up to 1/2 of 805 too. I just want something with more detail but accessible to her. Thanks for all the responses.
  4. Thanks, I'll look into the advanced chemistry book. Any ideas for a comprehensive text we can use? I have a science background and discuss things with her both I like to have a textbook to guide us.
  5. I need help in sorting this out. My DD is reading apologia chemistry mostly for fun this summer and hoping to go over it again during the next school year. She is complaining that though she likes the writing, she frequently gets frustrated when the author says going in depth "is beyond the scope of this book". Is there another christian/non christian text she can use? She loves chemistry though she has not done much of high school level chemistry. (She is 12.5yrs if it matters). Thanks
  6. bumpimg. I have no suggestions and I'm interested in what others suggest. :)
  7. I like Apples spelling drills because it teaches her the rules which she can then apply to other words. I have not used/ seen HTTS so I can't compare.
  8. Apples daily spelling drills is what I plan to use with my DD this summer. Maybe that would help.
  9. Does she like games? If she does, math games may be the way to draw her in. We use various games like those from the muggins company, using stories like life of Fred to introduce problems. My 12 would still use manipulatives whenever she can. I like MM too.
  10. I plan to use it with apologia biology next school year in 9th grade.
  11. DS has used Singapore for k-8 th, continuing with discovering math 3 next year.
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions.. 1. Would he need both texts for SAT subject test? 2. What other textbook do you suggest in addition to the apologia text for the AP before using the prep books?
  13. 2. Can my DS prepare for SAT subject test and AP after using apologia biology or does he need to do anything else? 2. Would it be enough to use a prep book after a year of biology? If it helps he has done gen science and physical science so far and would be starting 9th grade in the fall. He has completed singapore discovering math 1a-2b. Thanks for helping me sort this out. I'll like him to do the tests close to when he completes the course if possible.
