  1. It brought us all here and gave us this forum. I am so thankful I found the book and the Forum.
  2. Get him books that are below his personal reading level. You could start out with the Fly Guy books and them move up. Always find fun entertaining books and work your way back up to his personal reading level by the time he starts to be challenged again he will enjoy reading and want to read. Make sure he never feels judged by you or your children that is what is happening to him at school. Have fun
  3. I second The One and Only Ivan my seven year old loved it. Another great book would be The Invention of Hugo Cabret it is a fantastic book. I bet if you take her to the book store pick up the book and say this looks interesting and have/let her flip through the pages she will want you to buy it. The Princess and The Goblin is also loved by any girl. You can purchase the book or since it is a classic whose copyright is up you can even find it for print on the web. The hard bound book is a great addition to any home library. My girls love it. Have fun mom and daughter time.
  4. Math-U-See Primer worked well for my five year olds
  5. I need to get a core, science, required material and another set of readers. A coupon would really help and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  6. Math-U-See Primer is a good choice.
  7. You could take the $25 dollars and purchase what you need to make sandwiches and hot chocolate. Then take the children and give the sandwiches out to the homeless. Even if you only give sandwiches and hot chocolate to five homeless your children will have great experience. Just a thought.
  8. Thank you for the list of history books. And congratulations on a job well done as it is obvious that the path you have followed so far has worked well for your son.
  9. If your son wants to do it, I think it would be advantages to let him. I do not see a need for an IQ test as you have a Math Professor who knows first hand what your son's math knowledge is. I think that if your son is enjoying learning then never stop or slow his learning. Right now you have a child who is above average and enjoying himself, sounds like great thing to me. I wish you and your son the best in whatever path you decide to take.
  10. I am trying to develop our grade school curriculum and I am looking for what you have used for LA other than PR. So far we have decided on SOTW and Saxon math. Thank you fro your replies.
