  1. yes, I did. Now it's a moot point. I started feeling rather poorly a few hours ago and now I feel awful. I'm going curl up in a blanket and watch a couple of episodes of Stranger Things. Dh and son can fend for themselves for dinner. Blech.
  2. I also prefer to bag my own. I like to put like things together.. the fish was room temp...so I guess I'll toss... bummer
  3. I'm out again this time around. I'm pretty overwhelmed with classes, moving, and life. Have a great get-together.
  4. yesterday morning I bought frozen codfish. It's the kind that are individually sealed in packets. I was such a hurry when I got home that I only put away the perishables... except I just found the fish in the grocery bag. So it's been out for about 22hrs. It was going to be for dinner tonight.
  5. Just seeing this. Glad you got to get baby cuddles for your birthday. So very sorry that you lost your son. I can't imagine the devastation.
  6. hugs... lots of hugs. And Congratulations too. Start taking something like EmergenC or Airborn as well as something with elderberry syrup. In the evenings take some chamomile tea to help relax you. I find that my sleep is greatly interrupted when I'm stressed or anxious and that leads to illness. Good luck.
  7. I wondered about this. I'll throw away the Hartz. Thanks for the advice Someone asked about the Capstar. I gave him 2 doses a few days apart per the vets instructions.
  8. We just finished Episode 1. Trying not to binge so we can enjoy a bit longer. I have a feeling ds will not be patient with us.
  9. ugh. We just moved in and now we have fleas. The previous owner had a dog but I don't know if we brought them with us or not. I suspect not. Anyway.. ugh. I'm tired all the time and now fleas. I discovered it last Friday night (as I was going to bed). Called the vet Sat. morning, since it was obvious the Frontline wasn't working. They gave me Simparica and Capstar. I had tried Bravecta when we first got our dog and it didn't work at all. I've been using the topical stuff since and haven't had another problem until last week. Sat. I also bought spray stuff and powder stuff which I put on all the carpeted floors and upholstered surfaces as well as mattresses. I wash everything that might have come into contact with the dog. I sprayed after leaving the powder on for many hours and then vacuuming. I've kept the dog out of all our rooms and off our beds. I washed the dog in Hartz flea and tick shampoo. I've also been using a natural flea spray that has peppermint oil and cloves as a deterrent. The dog still has fleas. I comb several off each day. I'm itching all the time so I think I'm getting bit (of course no other human in the house seems affected. :glare: ) I'm going to call the vets again tomorrow. But what else can I do.?
  10. I had a picky eater who was also extremely stubborn. He was my cheese-toast, hamburger, or pizza boy. That's it. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on the situation) he was quietly stubborn. If he didn't eat at least a few bites (1-2) then that was it for the evening. I ended up having to set a timer because we could literally be there all evening. The truly amazing thing is that he is now my most adventurous eater - and he cooks!! I am shocked by the things he is willing to eat now. He married an Asian American and we went to her parents for dinner once. It was traditional Chinese hot pot dinner and I was amazed at what he was eagerly eating and sharing with us. It was very gratifying to see this change. It helps that he fell in love with a foody and she loves trying all sorts of new things. It's amazing what love will make a person do. My dh is also a very picky eater. He hasn't changed at all. I have no idea how his mom dealt with it. So there's hope for some picky eaters (esp. if they find the right partner ;)).
  11. This... My sleep specialist also checked my ferritin levels - I think they were around 24 IIRC. Taking iron helped me tremendously. I also take magnesium with it. I take them both at night before bed. Magn. helps with restless leg but it also helps with the constipation caused by extra iron. My dr. recommended getting the iron shots if I couldn't get my levels up via OTC supplements. Thankfully, I haven't needed to do that.
  12. listening in for ideas as our master bedroom is a converted garage with a bay window facing the driveway. I hate that I can see my messy bedroom everytime I pull into the driveway. :svengo:
  13. Do you know the name of the Roman cookbook? I have Latin project due at the end of this semester and I'm thinking maybe bringing food would help bolster my wilting grade. :)
  14. Oh, I haven't been there in years! They're always a bit more aggressive by the end of the summer. How were they? Hope they didn't steal your food.
  15. I was homeschooling 20yrs ago, but I wasn't here on these boards. Happy birthday to WTM and to Emily!! I enjoy the update! My oldest is also working fulltime towards her degree. She's pregnant with #3 (okay, there I've said it here). It's taken her nearly 8yrs to get her PhD. But, she should be done with her thesis and her internship before baby comes. We're in the home stretch. Good luck to your dil - that is HARD. I could never have done it myself.
  16. I like the Melinda because I prefer one that has shorter handles rather than a sling. Otherwise, I'd probably go with the other one because it is slightly smaller. I am also picky about my purse. I just bought a new one that I *thought* was a good size. I even compared it to the one I had that is starting to fad and it only seemed slightly larger. Well, it's like a cavern in there when I'm trying to find stuff. I'm ready to throw it out and just go back to my old faded one because it is the *perfect* size for me. Good luck with finding one. I usually pay less than $60 for my purses, so those are pretty but out of my price range.
  17. what a sad story. The update just makes it worse... I can't even imagine spending 15K for a wedding dress, much less a bridesmaid dress. I'm sorry she lost a friend, but like she said: she misses her old friend not the woman she has become. I too have seen bridesmaids picking out their own dresses in similar colors (it's what my own DIL did too). I like that trend. Everyone can find something that fits with their body type and in a price-point they can afford.
  18. for those with patio furniture, how comfy is it. Is it comfortable enough to say...nap on? Or is it woven plasticy?
  19. We're considering some kind of free standing stove (wood or pellet) in the future. I've got so many ideas running in my head but no money!! Can't wait until the other house sells.
  20. We bought a house with a 3 season sunroom that we hope to someday make into a 4 season one. It has baseboard heat that can be turned on when it's in use, but otherwise it is like having a garage... unheated/air conditioned. We got rid of our old couch when we were preparing to put the other house on the market because it was old and dilapidated. I would like to put a small sectional type couch in the sun room. I'm wondering about the type though. Would you buy a patio type sectional because of the heat/cold issues when the room is not in use? Or would you buy a traditional living room type sofa/sectional? I'm concerned about a big couch not heating up/cooling off easily, and dealing with mildew. I live in a very humid climate. OTOH, how comfortable are those patio couches? I plan to use this room like a family room/dining room (there is room for a big family table too). I'm thinking about something like this: https://www.wayfair.com/Birch-Lane%E2%84%A2-Brookhaven-Sectional-with-Cushions-BL12806.html or this for traditional: https://www.wayfair.com/Red-Barrel-Studio-Bloomquist-Sleeper-Sectional-RDBL1816.html
  21. That is quite lovely. I have tears in my eyes. May Ken rest in peace
  22. congratulations... I love the name! His name-day is just around the corner. I'm sorry about these challenges you are both facing. No advice, but I'm glad there are others here who can offer their wisdom.
  23. Preach it!! We had one bad experience at the dog park with our dog and an out of control big "puppy". Owner made it sound like I was over reacting ... No your dog is harassing MY dog, and my normally docile, half-asleep doggy is hiding under the picnic table and growling to send your dog a message (he wasn't getting). And - the owner was way too far away and not controlling or training his puppy. It was like he expected me and my dog to do his job. My dog was so stressed out after that experience. We've never gone back. My dog doesn't really enjoy running around and socializing anyway, but that was over the top.
