  1. We use Barlean's Omega Vegan Swirl with DHA and walnuts etc. Because of our choice to eat a plant based diet we get a lot of Omega 3's throughout our day. I actually think a healthy plant based diet would be best for ADHD because it keeps the blood vessels healthy and inflammation low which are both good for our brains.
  2. OT: but, I always forget what JAWM means and automatically plug words in for it. My first thought was Just a Whiny Moment :p. We tried school for a second time when I was in Uni. My house was so tidy and there was so much less work to do. It had it's perks.
  3. Oh that sounds awesome. Hoping more people chime in.
  4. I have 5 in a very wide age range 16, 13, 10, 3, 2. I have been solo parenting for a year (my husband lives in another state). I find stretching our day out easier. I felt like I was neglecting my younger ones. It made me sad. Then I would try to rush them threw so we could play. I would burn out around 6. Then I was a mess for three hours till we passed out. So, we stretch the day out. I do reading lessons at bedtime. Some kids so math super early and one often does his at 11pm. If I do some work with one kid, I follow it up with play with little ones. My day is very long. But, we get more breaks for play and water and snacks.
  5. We are going through the exact same thing. They never could figure out what is wrong with him. I am thinking of getting him checked out more thoroughly because it is impacted his reading. We are in a different area and I am having much more success with our practice. Our school will work with us, though Have you seen Mommyspeechtherapy.com?
  6. I wet my lips really really sloppy and give them a big kiss. My kids have really picked up my dry sense of humour. It is fun. But, I hope they find a girl that can put up with it.
  7. I would request a sender use a different service. UPS has always been good. FedEx can be iffy. I have had several problems with FedEx in different locations. It doesn't hurt to complain to the higher up levels. It sounds fishy to me. The sorting warehouse might want to know and might be getting complaints already.
  8. Sierra Trading has a man's workpants section, as well. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/mens-pants~d~143/
  9. http://www.carhartt.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/HomeView?storeId=10051&catalogId=10101&fullsite= is the most durable brand I can come up with. But, a real high quality button fly Levi is just so hot.
  10. They are adding spandex to a lot of new jeans. So, check the materials before buying. It can't stand up to all the work and washing and drying. Do you have a feed store near you? Ours sells clothes and the more durable brands. Plus, things for the cowboys or cowgirls who want to dress up.
  11. Sorry about the befuddle title :p I wasn't necessarily thinking Sonlight or Abeka. Although, feel free to include those. I was thinking more of what are things that you are using that are really helping to get your family into the meat of Christ? What really has helped your children's Christian walk? What are things you have loved to use for family reading that just spark those kids and get them talking? We started the History Lives Series and I was pleasantly surprised at how my children perked up and discussed and got into things. It flowed nicely with SOTW, which is a bonus because my older kids love those books.
  12. Yep and then a cop can pull them over because it is dangerous. I say give the cops a reason. I like cops. Heck I even love a few. And, that is nice you don't have smartphones. But, places like Washington with a highly traveled main freeway is crawling with them. It is dangerous here.
  13. Yeah I would but in on the cooking. Buy groceries. Fill up the tank if I took a car. Top off the coffee and chocolate and Mike's supply. Clean the bathroom. That sort of thing.
  14. No. I think a cell phone is far more distracting than a radio or passengers. People don't just talk on them anymore. They end up checking directions and emails and just looking something up real quick. It isn't even about talking on them anymore.
  15. So thy husband doesn't think you should stay at your mom's house so long? How many people and what ages include husband if he is allowed.
  16. It is illegal here in Washington State. I do still see people from time to time. But, it gives the police the right to pull you over. You can still use blue tooth though and I don't like that either. I think it distracts people. People need to be paying attention and not trying to kill each other with their death machines (which is what I have started calling cars). I guess I am getting older. But, I just have no desire to put my kids on the road yet. I am so glad my 16 year old is not begging to drive. He does usually sit up front and we talk a lot about the drivers around us. He can point out poor driving behavior pretty quick at this point. I never saw that stuff when I was younger at all.
  17. I will be praying for you. As I have mentioned before, my husband has lived in another state for over a year now. We are at a point where we have to move anyway. So, we have decided to move as close to him as possible (oil boom so housing is ridiculous). You never know what the future holds for your family.
  18. My mom saves her change all year. So, ours are mostly money. But, I would love some ideas. I hate just buying a bunch of plastic junk to fill Easter Eggs.
  19. I would check for mold, as well. If you haven't already please remove all dairy from his diet including lactose free milk and soy cheeses with casein. It could very well change his life. I had horrible issues as a child. They only come back if I have dairy. The doctors found my sicknesses/symptoms to be sad and chalked it up to me just being a bit sickly. We are in the PNW, as well. My SIL has had her health messed up because of mold in the attic. She has asthma/allergies now from it. I would rip open the walls/ceilings and make sure. You could try having him sleep elsewhere for a week and see what happens because that would definitely tell you something is lurking in there.
  20. I am sorry you are going through this. How is your support community? I think I would be concerned about him being alone too much as well. I would find a way to get him with family, friends, fellow homeschool families for a part of the week. I might see if he was interested in a small job, as well. Just some things to keep him busy.
  21. I am sorry but I just deleted two people who wanted to join. Please try again I can't remember the names :p
  22. Her Britax is expired. I drive a 2000 Odyssey. I was thinking a Radian because I can keep her rear facing in it. But, they are tall and I am concerned it won't fit in the back seat.
  23. I wish I had an answer. My husband moved a few states away a year ago. It has been really hard especially for him.
