  1. I've seen lots of kids with molluscum, and IME they are really variable but usually smaller than pea size. More like this: http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/dermatology/MolCon04.htm This article describes size and appearance, and states the average size is 3-5 mm in kids. That is consistent with my experience. Also, they start smaller and get bigger, so you may be seeing them after they've been there awhile.
  2. :iagree: I understand why you're upset, but I'd want to hear the teacher's perspective first. My kids feel "yelled at" if someone looks at them funny.
  3. Top floor, by the bedrooms. I've had w/d in the basement and much prefer it upstairs. I've never had a flood and don't worry about it.
  4. I agree to some extent, but not everyone is able to fight back. My son is small and thin and would not succeed in a physical fight, and he has learning issues and verbal difficulties, so he doesn't communicate well. Both of which contribute to the reason he is bullied in the first place. Bullies target kids who can't fight back.
  5. I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but there is a ton of research supporting direct instruction. I don't know if they mention Project Follow Through, but it was the largest and most expensive education experiment in US history and it clearly showed that DI was superior to other approaches. That was in 1967. US educators reject it in spite of the evidence, because it conflicts with their ideology of education. :cursing::banghead: Google Project Follow Through for tons of info.
  6. I have a 2004 Honda Pilot with 150,000 miles and it still drives great. Haven't had any problems with it at all. We rarely use the back row but it's very handy when the kids want to bring friends along somewhere.
  7. Lots of schools offer a general physics course for non-majors that doesn't require calculus. Some medical schools might require a calculus based physics class but I don't think most do. I just looked at my state's requirements, and they no longer require calculus. They definitely used to. I don't know if this is a trend or just something Iowa did on its own. PhysicsA complete introductory course (1 year), including lab and instruction MathematicsCollege algebra and trigonometry. Applicants who completed college algebra and trigonometry in high school must take either an advanced college mathematics course or a statistics course. You definitely don't need calculus to be successful as a physician. :)
  8. I just bought one from HyVee ( supermarket) a couple days ago.
  9. Yes. DD and DS are 11 1/2 months apart. And I hadn't had a period yet. :)
  10. What your doctor did is completely standard and routine. :chillpill:
  11. I have ETC 2 1/2 (first 2 pages are written in), 3 (2 copies), 3 1/2, 4 and 4 1/2. They're yours if you want to pick them up. :)
  12. It doesn't always work that way. Many struggling readers need early intervention or they won't ever get there. And many never get there at all.
  13. Other. My youngest is 14 and while he can read, he can't read fluently. And it's not from lack of instruction. We worked, and worked, and worked.... He will never read fluently, I guess.
  14. I did Semester at Sea when I was in college, so visited: Fiji New Guinea Bali Sri Lanka Seychelles Kenya South Africa Sierra Leone Senegal In addition have been to: Japan Panama Canada All of these were before I was 22 years old. I haven't been out of the country in 30 years.
  15. Around here, puppy classes are around $80-90 for an 8 week class. IMO classes are better for puppies than using a trainer individually. I'd have the kids go too. I think it's a bargain.
  16. I disagree. Some people take offense at anything. I'm not saying you are, so please don't take this personally. But I am sometimes astonished at how perceptions differ from one person to another.
  17. Taken. Handcrafted wooden Noah's Ark with 9 pair of carved animals and one Noah. Bought 15 years ago at an art fair.
  18. More stuff: Taken Knex 30 model building set. Is missing some parts, but most, if not all, models can be built without them. Taken Thames and Kosmos Physics Workshop. Also missing a few pieces, but they are nonessential and most, if not all, of the experiments can be done without them. Not in original box. Taken Erector motorized ferris wheel set The motor for this is missing, but there are still lots of pieces if your kids like erector sets. Supermag Speed Similar to the one pictured, but makes three different vehicles, not in original box. Taken Icoaster magnetic roller coaster Has all the parts, not in original box. Taken Chaos Tower Missing a few nonessential parts, not in original box. Oooh, this is fun!
  19. It's a new recommendation. I don't think there are any studies that support it, but it makes sense to me, and it doesn't seem like it would have any drawbacks- unless the patient finds not thinking more stressful than thinking. :)
