Homeworks by Precept meetings offer BJU online classes for 50% off during the summer if you order 6 or more classes and 25% off if you order 3 or more. I don't know how you feel about BJU and I am sure their offerings are not any better that Abeka, but thought I would throw that out there since you mentioned Abeka. Hope you are able to find the classes your are looking for. :001_smile:

At what point would you worry about irregular heartbeats?
KayT replied to StaceyinLA's topic in The Chat Board
I went through EKG, wore a heart monitor and it turned out to be low Vit D. Be sure to get this checked as well. -
Ear plugs. I had an illness that left me with sound sensitivity and I carry ear plugs with me everywhere and use as needed, I even sleep in them at night, it is the only way I can sleep. I am currently sitting on the sofa with them on while DH is watching Star Wars. It is amazing how just turning off one of the senses allows the brain to calm down.

All of my dishes are Fiesta. I bake in them all the time, I make nachos on the dinner plates and even bake cupcakes in my teacups. They offer lots of various bakeware as well, which by the way cleans up great. All my vintage pyrex is now in storage I don't even use it any more. All of it is safe in the oven, I've never had a piece break. Per Fiesta's website: How high can the oven temperature be? Typically 350 degrees is very acceptable for dinnerware, while bakeware can reach 500 degrees. While all pieces are temperature safe to 500 degrees, we do not however recommend placing above or directly under direct flame

When should a woman stop coloring her gray hair?
KayT replied to Lady Florida.'s topic in The Chat Board
THIS! My mom is 79 and has always colored her hair. I can't imagine her any other way. I am about 1/3 gray and don't color mine. Live and let live. :coolgleamA: -
It certainly does. I am one who had that misconception and I am glad to have a better understanding now. I think I was just complaining about this the other day. Glad you brought this up OP.

When should a woman stop coloring her gray hair?
KayT replied to Lady Florida.'s topic in The Chat Board
My mom is 79 and still colors her hair. It makes her look so much younger you would never know she was almost 80! I've had grey hair for years and I don't color mine. I say do what "you" want to do! -

BJU online FB or yahoo group?
KayT replied to TwoEdgedSword's topic in Logic Stage & Middle Grade Challenges
I believe the yahoo group migrated here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bju-press-distance-learning ,but it is not very active. I think most people are on the facebook groups. -
A mysterious & random buzzing noise in the attic?
KayT replied to Susan in TN's topic in The Chat Board
Look for carpenter bees that might be boring into the wood of your house. -
Teaching a young girl sewing and baking skills, etc.

http://www.amazon.com/Better-Homes-Gardens-Cook-Edition/dp/0470560800/ref=pd_sim_b_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0K3TX5EHSG21DG5P7P25 I ordered each of the girls one of these Better Homes and Gardens cookbooks and we cooked our way through the summer. The Chippers in a Jar cookie recipe in the gift giving section has become our go to cookie recipe lately. Each girl started their own recipe collection of family favorites adding to it as they learn to cook the recipe. I could not find recipe card boxes in our area so I bought 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" notebooks and page protectors for their personal cookbooks. We had such a lovely time doing this and it's something we will continue for the rest of their time at home. -
When I check the update for AndyJoy I get virus threat detected.
KayT replied to 4everHis's topic in The Chat Board
I only get it when I access wtm from a google search. Edited to add I also get it on the Andy Joy tread. -
You can take your smart phone to Straight Talk and get on their plan. It says it works with most smart phone. I had not heard of Republic Wireless and will have to check them out. We have used Straight Talk since it came out and have been pleased, but Woolysocks $10.00 a month sounds good!

Our district here in TX has the same 9th or never rule also. If you did not use the book that they used you will have to take the class over as that is the only thing they will give credit for.

Get 'er done...spiral math program...Abeka, Saxon, Horizons...
KayT replied to LisaKinVA's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I think the Student Adaptations Workbooks are what you are thinking about for Saxon. I found samples here. A bit of the product description: This "Adaptations for Saxon Math Intermediate 5" workbook includes worksheets with enough room to write out all the work for the Lesson Practice, Written Practice, and Investigations problems given in the Saxon Intermediate 5 Textbook. It does not include the "Early Finishers" questions (which are found in the textbook or in the Adaptations Workbook), or the "Power-Up" questions (which are provided in the textbook or Power-Up Workbook). -
I am very sorry Melinda. Praying for you family. :grouphug: :grouphug:
