  1. Does anyone here stock up on things and prepare for a SHTF scenario? I'm talking about guns, ammo, food, things like that. 1 Why? 2. What is the easiest way to get started? 3. How much money do you spend on it? 4. Where do you store everything? 5. What are the essential things to have or do? How much or many of each thing? 6. Any other tips, tricks, lessons learned, or advice for me? I am very interested in being prepared, but have no idea where to start... TIA!
  2. Do they drive? Cook? Clean? Do laundry? Why not get a professional to do those things too. Or, tell them you feel it is your responsibility to raise your children, and you aren't going to abdicate that to someone who won't necessarily loves your kids and have their best interest in mind. If anyone gets to brainwash your kids and indoctrinate them, it will be you.
  3. Our pets have always had their own bowls, but it is not unheard of to have the dog or cat lick food scraps off a plate or bowl on occasion.
  4. Do people watch movies or TV? Books based on things that are already interesting to them may be helpful, say some Star Wars novels or something.
  5. I was going to recommend Bellows ... Hale Koa is pretty nice too.
  6. We just store ours in the girls' bedroom in the tubs that hold their dress up clothes. Ok, not really. we keep some in a knife block on the counter, some in a drawer. The knives that came with a cover still have them. The girls know not to mess with the knives because they are sharp.
  7. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/doubleissue/mysteries/shakespeare.htm http://www.space.com/5772-tv-mythbusters-tackle-moon-landing-hoax-claims.html Articles mentioning the allegations held by some, and they aren't on Wikipedia... :tongue_smilie:
  8. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/joss-whedon-much-ado-about-nothing-sean-maher-nathan-fillion-252557 Very interesting. I don't like Shakespeare, but I hope to watch this!
  9. On a Mac - iMovie On a PC - Windows Live Movie Maker I believe both are free and very basic and simple to use. The next level I would recommend would be something like Adobe Premiere Elements.
  10. Well, 150-200k Honda and Toyota miles should usually be looked at like 75k-100k on most vehicles. See if you can find a Consumer Reports reliability ratings book for used vehicles. I am not sure how far back they go each year, but it could help you make sure you get something reliable. The problem is, most non-Honda, non-Toyota minivans have given a lot of people a lot of trouble over the years. That's the reason your Grand Voyagers, Caravans, Uplanders, etc tend to be a lot less expensive than Hondas and Toyotas of the same year and mileage. If you can wait at all, I would save up more. I am just afraid you would buy something unreliable if you bought now. Of course, there are always exceptions. :001_smile:
  11. :lurk5: My mind went straight to video editing when I read the title of this... I never knew there was a big market for people editing words...
  12. Funnily enough, the cat is a girl too. Plus, I have three sisters! Hmm...
  13. The people that do that stuff are predators, trying to lure kids in. It's sickening.
  14. If KBB says salvage title = automatically "poor" condition, I would show them that, and try to get them to match or beat the price for it in poor condition. But only after: 1. Seeing if you could insure it 2. Getting a trusted mechanic to check it out 3. Maybe get a CarFax report?
  15. So, I have 3 daughters. When all 5 of us go out, I always get the comment: "Oh wow, all girls." I am looking for a good way to respond to this... any ideas? The one that got the best reaction is. "So far." But I worry that people may misinterpret that and ask if my wife is currently pregnant with a boy or something. (she isn't, we aren't trying yet or anything) ETA: This isn't that I am upset with the people commenting on it or anything, but it is one of those small talk situations, and I would like to have some short responses ready that are humorous and end the conversation.
  16. Which of the two that worked well for your oldest daughter was better?
  17. A negative review from Bill is akin to putting something on my "buy immediately" list. :tongue_smilie:
