  1. Let's say you are in this situation: (this is not me btw) You need a medical procedure every 4 weeks indefinitely that requires anesthesia so you need a ride home. It is a 200 mile round trip You are not married and parents are gone You rely on your siblings but they all have their own families, jobs, medical conditions, limited vacation days and just cannot continue to take you to your monthly appt. This has already been going on for years and it is just getting harder to find people to take you. What are your options? Does the hospital keep you overnight every month so you can drive home the next morning?
  2. If you don't want to use it up right away you can put it in the freezer to extend it's life. I store mine that way.
  3. I admit I an unfamiliar with the Starbucks app and standalone locations. I am only familiar with the ones in Barnes and Noble stores.
  4. I agree! I think there will be a lot of people who throw the cups away or keep them at home and use them. Or people like me who only to go Starbucks on a (rare) whim and so will never have a cup with them to return.
  5. My understanding after reading the article is you don't actually have to bring a cup with you. The first sentences from the article reads: "On its mission to become more sustainable, Starbucks plans to drastically decrease the use of their disposable cups – yes, the same cups that we look forward to seeing different designs of every holiday season." Drastically decrease doesn't mean to do away with, although that may be something they are working towards. Towards the end of the article it mentions there could be an up-charge for a disposable cup. The other option is to purchase a reusable cup that can be returned and receive your deposit back or not be returned at all. Heck, you can even throw it away if you wish. I actually go to Starbucks maybe once every other year so maybe I am not quite understanding all the issues people are talking about. Maybe for those who frequent SB daily it could get expensive to keep purchasing cups. I do see how refilling cups in the drive through could be an issue. I can see how it could really slow things down. Anyway those are just my uneducated thoughts on the situation!
  6. I am a big fan of pie day! The only problem is my family can't agree on what to make.
  7. I know someone like this. A while back she asked how my trip to the homeschool convention was. I have never been to a homeschool convention ever and told her. She literally argued with me and said I had gone to one because my mom had told her I had. My mom barely talks to this person and when I asked her my mom was as clueless as me. You may be thinking she confused me with another homeschooler - but homeschooling is very rare where I live so I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if I am the only homeschooler she knows. She has since moved so I never interact with her anymore. All her lies are like this -- they literally are not about her convenience or even making herself look better. Just weird off the wall lies. She also once told me my SIL made big money - which my SIL did not. She was a single mom (who received no child support) with 2 jobs. Trust me, if she made big money at her full time job she would not have taken a second job.
  8. $4.59 locally but one gas station out of town is still 4.09.
  9. Does your butcher give you the opportunity to order exactly what you want? For instance I always get the round ground into hamburger. I know it's too late this time but it could be an option for the future. I can't figure out what more there is other than roasts, steaks, and ground hamburger 🙂 Other than maybe the short ribs which I absolutely adore. I am not a great cook by any means but if you mention what your struggling with maybe I can help too.
  10. Another vote for Bar Keeper's Friend! I would also use a Scrub Daddy too.
  11. The only time a tip jar really annoyed me was at a self-serve frozen yogurt shop. I generally pay cash so I guess I haven't really noticed a tip prompt on a card reader. I do tip for take-out though.
  12. I would be concerned about the power going out if one was plugged in. Maybe I am overthinking things but I would be afraid if there was a fire and your power goes out a plug-in detector wouldn't be helpful.
  13. Thank you! I have a vegan friend who will wear leather as long as it comes from a 2nd hand shop. So i know it does vary but I never considered frying vegan food in the same fryer.
  14. I was actually wondering about this. So cross contamination of a meat product with a vegan product can make the vegan product un-vegan?
  15. I'm not sure anyone actually thinks these are healthy???? It's just another option. It may give families who have a mix of omnivores and vegans another place they can eat together. Fast food restaurants are always trying something new and I think this is just one of those things. If it works they will keep it on the menu, and if it doesn't it will disappear.
  16. I am tentatively going to join in this year. The crime spree looks like a lot of fun!!
  17. Aveeno also makes an eczema lotion with colloidal oatmeal as the active ingredient if you didn't want to do the bath thing. Colloidal oatmeal is very very finely ground oatmeal. I have never taken an oatmeal bath so I can't speak to the mess.
  18. Maybe??? I usually do but not sure about this year.
  19. I am helping with a funeral meal on Thursday at the deceased's home and we are doing ham, potatoes, salad, and dessert. We are also sending along to go containers for storage and for others to take home leftovers. We usually add fried chicken and green beans to the menu but this is situation is different so we are simplifying everything. I think chili is good because it is also freezable. It is so sweet of you to do this and I am sure it will mean a lot to the family!
  20. This! I still throw away plastic, but using about a tablespoon per load from a big jug of Tide lasts about a year. I just saw that you can now get liquid Tide in a box.
  21. Thank you! I am going to check this out! Because of where I live Imperfect Foods is very appealing. I can get stuff through Imperfect Foods I can't get locally, like leeks and bok choy. But time and time again I got smashed fruit, lettuce that had been shredded, food that sat in the truck too long and was no longer edible.
  22. I live in the rural midwest so I think I am too far out for this. I may look back into it though. I would be thrilled if UPS would deliver because I have had very few issues with UPS. I have so many issues with FedEx over the years.
