  1. Did you take off work to do all this? You remind me of the energizer bunny I used to see on tv back in the 80s. I don’t watch networks with commercials so no idea if that bunny is still around.
  2. I would have taken out a similar loan (and more) for a private school if needed, but Dd did get in to a public university, so now we don’t need to. For Dd I still think she would do better in a private university where classes are small, more interaction with professors, and possibility of making friends faster due to the small class size. I was willing to take on this loan because I thought her years at a private university would be worth it. But she decided she prefers the public university without the loans knowing that it may not provide the same support. She’ll have to learn to hustle, to advocate for herself, to attend lecture classes with hundreds of others, to be more active in finding friends. I think the transition will be hard coming from a homeschool environment and then a small private high school. We do have a 529 which wouldn’t have put much of a dent on a private school tuition.
  3. I bought a dress for Dd a few days ago arriving today. It was $25.99. It’s a lightning deal today with 40% of the stock gone and back to the regular price of $44.99 after the deal. Guess how much it is now? It’s $25.99! I’m beginning to think prime deals are suspect. On that note I was eyeing an air fryer with a window by Instant Pot. Off to see what’s the price today.
  4. A few blocks away someone set his porch on fire due to fireworks. And all the houses here don’t have side alleys so if one house is on fire the adjacent homes can be in danger as there is no spacing between homes.
  5. Which is why based on what you wrote the person wasn’t looking for anything other than your packages. In our area, thieves just follow the Amazon trucks. More bold with better results. This reminds me to perhaps get a subscription. Most of the time my cameras are also out of battery.
  6. This is creepy and intentional. I’ve had packages stolen twice. And it’s true local thieves at Target don’t necessarily steal what I would consider worth stealing giving the amount of work required to steal. Makeup, hair accessories, skin care unless it’s Differin, cheap clothes. I just found out recently where these goods end up. On a main street near the lower income area where everyday items are more in demand. Like underwear or shirts. If something looks like what it is, it usually is what it is even if we want to justify a different scenario to give ourselves peace of mind. Now if the packages were for her but dropped off at your place by mistake, as happened to me several times, Amazon does take a picture but no address is shown in her account. I do recognize the ground and paint color of my nearby neighbors if the driver takes the photo farther away, I would know where to go. But I don’t know anything beyond my block. And I would never even attempt to look for the package beyond my block.
  7. I am assuming that it’s unlike some cities in the Bay Area that are pro-tenant and that evictions have to be justified. Are there really still towns in America that allow less than 30 days notice?
  8. Ohoh my dog is clearly behind. Wait Treat Bone Up Go Potty Sit Down (we don’t use it that often) No (but ignores it unless I say it loudly even then….) Come (when it suits her ) Catch My dog removed her cone and muzzle today even though they are required to keep her from licking an infection. We had a one sided conversation. I couldn’t put back the cone or the muzzle since no one is here to help, so I’ve slipped a sock over her paw and tied it a bit (doc says shouldn’t do it but her licking was causing a bloody paw last night when she figured out how to get around the cone).
  9. I hope you get it! It sounds like it could meet the needs of almost everyone. I can’t imagine such a huge home and land since we’re in the Bay Area. Some homes here are less than 900 sqft. You probably can’t imagine that either 😆 I was looking at a home with brown cabinets everywhere, and it felt heavy. I like dark gray, but I tend to choose this color for all my clothes and upholstery. Our husky sheds a lot so it gray blends with her fur. But I like white with that kitchen if you are going with wood beams and if there is a black countertop. It feels fresh and clean to have white cabinets. I’ve never had them but do they attract dirt and fingerprints?
  10. Funeral director - I find funeral homes peaceful. And I like walking in cemeteries.
  11. Hey Happy Birthday! Meat pie sounds difficult to make, but I’m not really a cook, though I’ve had to more recently because I like having DD’s friends over, but I’m not good and tend to get overwhelmed with too many ingredients. Actually I might cook vegan chili with with roasted potatoes for the next time the vegans come over. I recently found an easy solution for meat eaters. I marinate beef shank for a short while, and beef shank is not messy to handle, and then use the instant pot to cook for 30 mins. It’s really good! I slice it thinly so that the kids can eat it cold with bread. It’s super fast and easy.
  12. I did try for a few schools, but I gave up after a couple of questions in. So now I delete them. Dd wouldn’t even attempt it. I didn’t get far enough to know if they are too personal, but they are too tedious even for me.
  13. If contractors remove it the ceiling containing asbestos, do the occupants need to move out temporarily?
  14. Dawn, you seem like a high-energy can-do gal! I’m still spinning from the other thread about buying a property and you’ve moved on to packing up for storage.
  15. John Wick, all 4 of them. I’m a huge fan of the movies, and Keanu Reeves must be even better looking on a huge screen.
  16. Some smaller offices prefer a part-time paralegal especially one who has some experience. They may not read it or they may, but that doesn’t matter. I would think that for small towns, they may have fewer job inquiries, so higher chance of getting a part time job. She could cold call, but I’m not sure if kids are willing to do this these days. Or follow up the letter with a call.
  17. Yes, here https://hungryhappens.net/killer-crack-salmon-muffins/ I used tofu instead of salmon, maple syrup instead of honey because our friend is vegan. He loved it, and it actually looks like I put a lot of work when it was really simple.
  18. If the hair cut is very expensive like $350 and it’s the owner, is it still 20%? We’re about to give dd a cut as a grad gift.
  19. I just made sriracha mayo maple sauce for our vegan friend. It was for a tofu nori formed in muffin cups. That mayo combo was drizzled on top of each nori cup and the tofu had its own sauce. I was think that’s a lot of sauces in basically 2 bites, but it turned out well.
  20. Have we already discussed Enovid nasal spray from Israel?
  21. I’m liking Bloodhounds about loan sharks, bromance, and boxing. Detestable villain and likable main characters, good writing, and some gory violence.
  22. Replacement Pyrex lids don’t fit older bowls. You really have to try expanding the sides while pushing them down. We’ve been loyal Pyrex customers for decades.
  23. I’m supposed to wear them according to the podiatrist. Dd tried them on, and it was too hard to walk in. We both have flat feet. I wore them down and replaced with a different type of house shoe. This one is so comfortable - I believe they are called pillow or cloud slippers and probably wouldn’t pass the podiatrist test. Pillow Slippers for Women and Men Non Slip Quick Drying Shower Slides Bathroom Sandals | Ultra Cushion | Thick Sole https://a.co/d/8xKLlCU Eventually I need to go back to Birkenstocks.
  24. 19 hours at this point, battery icon is flashing. For less than $60 it’s not too bad, but I would have liked one that lasted longer.
