  1. We practice putting others first -- when setting/serving as kitchen helper you always serve yourself last, holding open the door . . .
  2. My husband "fixed" his knees by cycling. He was an avid runner but was having a hard time with his knees -- went to a couple doctors and was told there was nothing that could be done. Learn to live with it or stop running. He took up cycling for several months and then tried running again -- no pain! He just commented the other day about how long it's been since his knees have hurt. BTW -- I've heard other people give the same testimony.
  3. Do you remember the name of the coat that you purchased?
  4. That would be perfect if it would keep me warm in cold/winter weather, too! But, WOW -- for that price I might need to get it anyway! Thanks for taking the time to look!
  5. After lots of research (and figuring out that I'm not crazy) I have decided that I'm definitely in peri-menopause (started over a year ago) -- my mother did the same thing at the same age. I'm 39 -- things started when I was 38. I went to all kinds of doctors at first and every one of them told me I was fine and had no explanation for my symptoms (even though I've discovered several peri-menopause quizzes on line and I pass them all with flying colors:lol: I don't understand why a doctor couldn't pick up on it :glare:) Long-story-short: Hormone levels fluctuate and make it difficult for a doctor to pick up. You would have to get several tests so that they would be able to see the changes. If you're feeling fine then I wouldn't mess with it -- really, what's it going to change? If you're going crazy -- then push those doctors to get what you need.
  6. Dh suggested giving plasma. It's his go-to solution when things get tight. He'd make way over $100 a week.
  7. L.L. Bean - yes. Lands' End - no. I'll have to try them. Thank you for the suggestion!
  8. Wow, you could be talking about my aunt (and anyone else she comes in contact with that she can try to influence.)
  9. I'm looking for a coat (and apparently it doesn't exist :001_huh: I really don't think I"m asking for too much!) These are the requirements: - Repel water - Warm - Attached hood - Be appropriate for camping and for going to Target - Thinking three seasons would be best since it would get me through all possible coldness (I'm a wimp.) -Long enough to cover my rear-end (that's the coldest part, you know:lol:) but not go to my knees (see camping requirement above.) - Be able to wear winter clothes underneath (what's the deal with coats that are so tight that they only allow you to fit a tank top underneath -- it's cold outside!) I've been looking for over five years. I don't want to spend money on something that isn't going to meet my needs because I'll probably be using it for a long time. Each year I look and each year I'm disappointed so I end up just using my comfortable $10 windbreaker from Wal-Mart. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!
  10. Yes, it's totally worth it! I am lucky to have an uncle that buys gold so I know he will be honest. If I didn't have that option I would get several estimates.
  11. Mental health (my children and me!) a close second would be that I taught PS for eleven years and I know what goes on there.:glare:
  12. Most posts don't bug me because I see it as an insight into my friend -- so even things like whining, political . . . don't get to me. What gets me is STATUS SHUFFLE -- it's not even their own thoughts! Ugh.
  13. I weighed less than 110 when I married and am now about 135. Not happy about it but I was definitely under-weight when I married so it makes the 20+ pounds a little easier to take.
  14. It's expensive for a school district to have special needs students. They work very hard to keep that cost to a minimum (at the student's expense.) You may need to go through upper administration rather than the school.
  15. I guess since we're pretty much always broke and my husband HAS moved away for a job then my answer would be 'No.'
  16. Oh, that's just crummy! I hope so many wonderful things happened to make you feel special that you forgot all about this bump in the road.
  17. I use fluoride only until my children can handle the mint taste of the non-fluoride toothpaste. I've read WAY too much about the negative effects of fluoride. Unfortunately, I can't do much about the water. :glare: Check out http://thehealthyhomeeconomist.com -- she has a very interesting article on how cavities can be healed (and prevented.) Apparently, it has much more to do with your diet than in cleaning habits.
  18. Yes, because when I started out I had a couple friends that helped me a lot by loaning me their things.
  19. :iagree: Yep, that's me. It started in my 30's, too.
  20. :grouphug: Wow. I'm so sorry that you're dealing with all of this. I SO hoped that you were finally going to get a break and that things were going to turn around for all of you. You have such a wonderful family and you inspire so many! Love you bunches :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
