  1. A butcher friend of mine (he buys the meat and sells it to the grocery stores) told me last week that they are having to do their orders now for the end of the year and that he expects there to be very little meat available by December. So, eat your meat now and plan for vegetarian meals for the winter because you may not have much of a choice.
  2. Absolutely. He's 18 and his brother will be soon. Time to work these types of things out before they're totally on their own.
  3. Good for you! We loved the people, the scenery, and even the weather (after we got used to it.) Still have some of the best friends of our lives from that area. We lived in Puyallup (just south) of Seattle for several years. LOVED it! We used to ride our bicycles to Seattle. We used to ride our bicycles a lot -- Sumner has a sweet little trail that takes you through the town, past bison farms, through woods and next to a creek, along with a beautiful view of Rainer! We left so we could raise our children close to family. Ranks up there with our dumbest decisions! I'd move back in a heartbeat.
  4. I do everything -- that's the way we both like it. However, if I get stuck I will explain it to him and he will help me figure out a solution. He's good at that.
  5. I don't know if you said when you'll be going but the WA state fair is in Puyallup -- lots of fun.
  6. :iagree::iagree::iagree: My in-laws toured Seattle by the breweries -- you can get some good beer up there!
  7. I have noticed a lot of risk-taking behavior by children lately. My Dh and I have come to the conclusion that it's because we've worked so hard to make sure that everything in our environment is safe that no one has learned to use common sense anymore.
  8. My daughter is almost 10. This past year was our first year to HS. I started her completely over with MUS Alpha and it has been wonderful for her. She gets it now and the tears at math time have stopped. So, in an attempt to help her "catch up" I was wondering if it would be possible to do Beta and Gamma during the same year. What do you think?
  9. :iagree: I SO wish someone would do this! I really don't understand why they don't.
  10. Wow! So glad that everyone is alright!! Where were the parents? Do they know what caused it?
  11. To the OP -- I think your mil might be my mil long lost sister. :tongue_smilie: :iagree: This was me. My life is so much better/easier once I figured this out.
  12. Be disciplined enough to finish what I start. (I hate waking up to a sink full of dirty dishes.)
  13. Auction -- people will pay good $ for a decent bird.
  14. Family of 6 -- $150 - $200 a week. Includes everything (TP, Cleaners, Mascara . . .) It has gone up about $50-$75 since all the economy stuff has started.
  15. :iagree: I love learning things with my children (that I was never taught in PS.) Can I ask what you're using to teach Hebrew? I would LOVE to learn and am thinking of adding it to our day (if I can find something to help me through it.)
  16. No. I hate the way gloves feel and they always make my hands sweat. My hands do NOT look good but I think it has more to do with the sun than the cleaning.
  17. Usually things like a toothbrush -- now I just keep one in my bag at all times. Once I forgot my underwear:tongue_smilie:
  18. I have a daisy on my backside/upper hip. Because of it's placement I rarely see it (and it doesn't show for anyone else.) I used to be pleasantly surprised when I would catch a glimpse of it. Now, with my religious beliefs changing, I am starting to wish I didn't have it.
  19. My oldest has begged me to not get a homeschool room. She loves doing her lessons on the couch, at her deck, laying across my bed . . .
  20. I just finished reading an article written by a man that says growing up they were terribly poor and didn't have access to quality foods. He said one thing his mother did was to give them a shot glass of wine once a week. He seems to feel that it helped their entire family maintain their health -- apparently they were never sick. Something to think about.
  21. Only if we're going on an out-of-town trip. Other than that it's on all the time.
  22. :iagree: Aren't you the one that introduced me to MCT!
