  1. Hubby checked that box off yesterday. Love the smell of turkey stock bubbling on the stove.
  2. If you're looking for less expensive - we found ds15 some at WalMart a couple weeks ago.
  3. ((hugs)) Prayers and positive thoughts that you get a quick appointment and a good report.
  4. How exciting!! Congratulations to your daughter :hurray: :hurray:
  5. 14 weeks the first time, 16 the second. Just stopped - no weaning.
  6. Never. Our actual front door is nowhere near where we park (attached, covered carport added to the house). We always use the side door which opens up under the covered area. We're used to it but it is strange for visitors. The door opens right into our laundry area. The front door has only ever been used for moving furniture in and out of the house.
  7. Very late 60s - just a few months shy of 70.
  8. Well, I have discovered that one of my biggest irrational fears is that I was the only one with those fears. You ladies have set my mind at ease :) I find I have many kindred spirits here at the Hive who fear some of the same things I do. May not change anything but at least I know I'm not the only one looking for serial killers in showers and sharks in the deep end.
  9. I'd say less than $150 a year for everyone. Face wash Moisturizer Powder (my only nod to makeup) Noxema for dd Stridex pads for ds' back CeraVe for his face Sunblock That's about it. Dh just washes his face with whatever is in his hand at the time whether soap, shampoo or body wash.
  10. Congratulations Mergath! Welcome little Aurora!
  11. Thanks! I would have missed the add and it is VERY helpful :)
  12. Thank you!! I was going crazy trying to find it online.
  13. Due to situations beyond our control we can not get a PLUS loan at the present time. I see that dd can increase her student loan if parents don't qualify for PLUS (she needs a very small increase). I can not find out where to request that increase. My google skills are getting me nowhere except the chart that says she can get an increase. No link or info on how. Does anyone know where we need to go to request the increase?
  14. Huge hugs and prayers. Seizures are so scary for parents. Ds' seizures were some of the most difficullt things we've dealt with.
  15. We have no deductibles, only out of pocket maximums. Once family is met everything (including pharmacy) is covered. All co-pays go toward total. $2500 individual $5000 family Our previous policy was $7500 individual deductible with $15000 family. Very high co-pays and very little went toward deductible. It was a nightmare and one of the reasons dh changed districts (he's a teacher).
  16. Ours works this way - we have $2500 individual and $5000 family. When one person reaches their $2500 mark all of their expenses are covered for the rest of the year. In order to meet the family amount other family members have to meet part or all of theirs. Once the $5000 is met then everything for everyone is covered. We have 5 people on the insurance. It doesn't matter how much we each pay out of pocket as long as the total reaches $5000 but no one person is counted for more than $2500. That's how our particular policy works.
  17. I get the feeling that your assumption is pretty spot on - at least I have the same sunny assumption :)
  18. This is where our concern lies but taking into consideration the following quotes it probably won't even be an issue for the first semester (possibly year) anyway. This is a great point from all of you. I don't think P is in a hurry. Housing can always be reevaluated at winter break if need be. Thanks for sharing the various thoughts here! Ravin - really like the new picture Imrich - we think she's a pretty cool kid.
  19. Same room. Can be M/M; F/F or F/M allowing for any combination the students would like. It gives more freedom in allowing the students to room with whomever they want (even if it's a brother/sister that want to room together).
  20. This particular dorm is set up like a hotel. Two people to a room with a private bathroom. Guys and girls share the floor/dorm. next door neighbor could be either guys or girls.
  21. Sorry I posted and disappeared on this one. Our internet crashed just after hitting send  And now I'm having to run out the door. I am going to read through the responses better later. Some clarifications - D is my dd18. She has no issue whatsoever with P's choices. D is 'cis-female but somewhat non-gender conforming' (her description). There is not an intimate, personal relationship between them in question either now or when P is M. They are just friends. Gender inclusive dorms are full for the upcoming year. D really has no interest in changing roommates (nor does P). The question is what will happen (or will there be a problem) when their designation goes from F/F to F/M in a traditional dorm.
  22. So - this situation is unfolding here and leads to an interesting. possible conundrum. (Deleted the paragraph with the most personal information.) Thanks everyone for your thoughts and sharing!! The possible conundrum is this. They are attending a college that has gender inclusive dormitories but they are not assigned to one. The dorm they are in is intended for traditional dormming (M/M and F/F). So, at what point, if any, does P's transition cause a problem for the housing situation? Technically, as P is transitioning FtM, at some point D will be rooming with a male student which no longer qualifies for the housing situation they are in (which can not be changed this close to the start of school).
  23. Ds (special needs) loves a weighted blanket but doesn't like the ones made with sand or weights. He is a sensory seeker/loves deep pressure. When he was toddler my grandmother crocheted him a blanket that ended up being quite heavy from the pattern. He LOVED it. Over the years she has made him larger ones as he grows. She is currently working on a 40x72 for him. Perfect for him and only one blanket and very heavy. eta - I have the pattern if anyone is interested.
