    Another vote for red beans and rice. Although I love Mexican dishes as well. I also have a recipe for fake hamburger crumbles made from lentils and brown rice.

    Dd9 went through an extended period of being afraid of Santa(and pretty much any other character in costume) and this is the first year we have taken a Santa photo since her fear started. I could not imagine forcing her to take a Santa photo if she was terrified. It would also be rather hazardous to Santa especially with older children.

    The years that we have gone to several parties or activities at this time of year one or more of us has ended up sick. The germ exchange that inevitably occurs just makes it not worthwhile to me.

    Snow is pretty rare in our area but this year is pretty cold so it may be a possibility.

    I like this idea. I thought about elf on a shelf this year but dd9 is just now getting over a fear of Santa and I don't think the typical elf would help at all.

    My mother cooks the turkey upside down every year. She heard about the technique sometime when I was in my teens and all of our turkeys have been upside down ever since.

    Red beans and rice is a common dish in this area that might suit you. It is often made with sausage but does not have to be. It can be made spicy but I generally add onions and herbs instead since one person in my family won't eat spicy foods and another shouldn't eat spicy foods(but does anyway).

    Another perspective, in my case Valium and gas both make my anxiety worse. Could that be happening and it is hard for the child to communicate the problem? I am probably an aspie but I was assumed neurotypical and could not communicate or really comprehend the nature of the problem during the reaction when I was in my early teens.

    I am familiar with the first two definitions. I think that there are multiple meanings for the word. We need a multi choice poll.

    We have two sugar gliders. They are pretty cuddly but somewhat expensive. They also have a relatively long lifespan. You might consider that good or bad depending.
