  1. That looks great. I just signed up for the Points menu. I just despise meal planning :glare:. I'm "in a mood" about it right now and I seriously don't care if the food isn't great, I just want something to put on the table.:001_huh:
  2. Check new subdivisions in your area that are almost sold out. When builders make a model home complex they will usually have at least one model that has a sales office in the garage. All those cabinets have to be torn out for the model conversion. They may let you have them if you are willing to come tear them out yourselves. They will probably be happy to get rid of them (the less stuff (weight) they have to put in the dumpster, the better).
  3. I'm shocked that you find this "odd". I see all kinds of 'thoughts' and messages in facebook statuses. She misses her Mom, she's thinking about her, and she has that as her facebook status. Sheesh, what is odd about that?
  4. I potty-trained my DD when she was 2.5. I used the toilet training in less than a day method and it took about 1.5 days for her to catch on. So, my advice would be to give it 2-3 days. With DS, he was about 2 years 8 months and I just started letting him go around without any pants on when we were at home. It was a much more gradual process but he was pretty much day-trained by the time he was 3. Good Luck.
  5. If I want it really easy, I just buy a little container of pico de gallo in the produce section then mix that with 3-4 chopped/mashed avocados and a pinch of sea salt and lime juice. So basically, like Elizabeth said, it's tomatoes, onion, cilantro, lime juice, avocado, a little salt and maybe a bit of chopped jalapeno.
  6. Can you post your list of allowed foods? Then maybe we can help you think of ways to make the foods more exciting. I know some women who were on very restricted diets when BFing babies with allergies. I think it helps when you know there is an end in site.
  7. That is interesting, thanks for sharing. Sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I think he is an absolute NUT.:tongue_smilie:
  8. I don't know about those, but these Cleo Crocs http://www.crocs.com/crocs-cleo/10043,default,pd.html?cid=282&cgid=women-footwear-sandals are awesome! The first time I ever wore mine was to Disneyland, I wore them all day then came home, took them off, them promptly put them back on because my feet felt better with them on.
  9. My DH has had severe foot pain for the last few months, his is plantar fascitis also but his pain is in the bottom of his foot, not the heel. At the direction of my SIL (a PA) he started taking 800mg of ibuprofen a few times/day, icing, stretching http://www.heel-that-pain.com/videos.php exercises, and we ordered these powerstep orthotics http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013308T6/ref=oss_product He started all that a couple weeks ago and his feet are MUCH, much better. If that didn't work, his next step was to see a podiatrist.
  10. We have porcelain tile throughout most of our first floor. I love it. We are going to get rid of all the carpet down there and replace it with the same porcelain tile. Our tiles are big, 18x18 so there isn't as much grout to clean. I love tile, I wish the whole house was tile.
  11. We had all of our windows done with the 3M film, they have different films, we used the one that blocks the most heat. I think we paid about $900. It has made a difference in our energy costs. This is our 3rd year with the film, I would say by the end of this summer, the film will have paid for itself. The sun is VERY intense here (rarely a cloud in the sky) and what we pay per unit of electricity is VERY, VERY HIGH. The film makes a lot of sense for us here, but I'm not sure it would be worth it in other parts of the country.
  12. Can I ask why you want a self-threading machine? I taught sewing to middle schoolers and out of my thousands of students, I never had one that couldn't learn to thread a machine (they could all thread the machine in 60 seconds). Before you go buy a new machine, are you sure that the bobbin is wound properly? If the bobbin isn't wound right, or the machine isn't threaded correctly it will cause all kinds of problems. I don't have specific recommendations for a machine. I have a Singer that I am very happy with. It is pretty basic, quite a few stitches, and it is heavy-duty (will sew very heavy fabrics). When I was teaching, at one school we had Bernina 1008 machines (Bernina's good school machines) and they were great, at another school we had Bernina Bernette machines and they were absolute JUNK, they were no better than a $100 machine from Wal-Mart.
  13. Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft. The clothes are perfect for me, they are fashionable but not too 'young' and trendy.
  14. We have a yard guy. For $80/month, he comes every week. He mows, trims, edges, weeds, and takes care of the trees and shrubs. He is a great and I don't think we'll ever get rid of him, even 2 years ago, when DH had been laid-off two times and was starting his own company and I wasn't spending a dime, we kept the yard guy. Several years ago, I had house cleaners every other week and it was FABULOUS. The best part was that it forced me to get the house completely picked up and ready for them. I could afford to have them come again but I can't get over the guilt so I do it myself (kind of :glare:).
  15. LOL but I have to ditto. I have NEVER been evenly remotely happy with a perm.
  16. That's awesome!!! Thank you so much. I have looked at their site before, but they've added a lot of restaurants in my area since the last time I checked. We're going to be eating a lot of yummy food, Persian, Indian, Thai, Peruvian, Japanese and 'Latin Mix'. Yum. :tongue_smilie:
  17. That's brilliant, I love it. My DH is turning 40 on August 18th. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to try and plan a very small surprise party. I really don't want to (not a good party planner) but I feel like I 'should'. :glare:
  18. It must be http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/fantasy-fudge-51833.aspx this one. I searched for 'fudge' there, LOTS of recipes, mmmm :tongue_smilie:. I always loved what my family calls 'five minute fudge'. I have the recipe downstairs, I will have to compare it to the Kraft recipe. I couldn't find the family recipe last year so I used another one that got good reviews and it was gross, we threw it away.
  19. I tried MANY different stainless cleaners and I didn't like any of them until I tried the 3M stainless cleaner. It is awesome. It does a really good job of polishing and it doesn't get streaky. It can be a little hard to find. I have bought it at Smart and Final and think that Lowe's or Home Depot probably carry it. It's a little pricey but it's a big can and lasts a long time.
  20. I agree, I'm so happy they (the Phelps) showed up there. What a great opportunity to call attention how to ridiculous and vile they are. That interview was :ack2::sad:, the way she talked about the soldiers' families...., they are truly EVIL people. It is amazing, the restraint that these families show.
  21. It depends on what you like. All of his books are total escape/mind candy type books. He writes VERY short chapters and the books clip along super fast. I really like the Alex Cross books. He is a police detective, I guess they are mysteries. I have read some of his other books and enjoyed them too.
  22. I have no experience with the chicken, but when I made laundry detergent, I couldn't find washing soda (sodium carbonate) but I bought a big container of sodium carbonate (98% sodium carbonate, 2% inert ingredients) in the pool chemical section of WalMart (called Ph+). It worked great for the laundry detergent. Good luck with your chicken.:001_smile:
  23. Thanks for the recommendation. I bought the cookbook. I'm also going to try the recipes you shared here. Shhhhhh, don't tell my DH that I bought another cookbook.:leaving:
