  1. I'm probably the only person here who still balances their checking account. I mean like keeping a running total, add the deposits, subtract the debits that haven't cleared and making sure my balance is the same as the bank. I used to do it monthly when we got a paper statement, but we no longer get those, and everything is online. I think I want to stop with all the figuring already. It takes a long time, and I don't think it's a good use of my time. Please tell me it's ok to stop. I've been doing this for over forty years, and old habits die hard.
  2. I had bunion surgery May 30-it was called adducto lapiplasty. I can say that the recovery has been more than I expected, but my bunion hurt with every step for over a year before I had surgery. There is a facebook group out there for it, and some people have much less pain than I did.
  3. I'm already making a pumpkin pie, so he'll still get his cake. When you're in your 80's, might as well have what you want, right?
  4. I have a lot to do today: church grocery stores-done start painting weed the flower garden write the church check bank statement shred alphabetize flash cards-done read cook-in progress clean the bathrooms-done make a list of missing grades mop
  5. I make carrot cake every Thanksgiving. I bring desserts to my sister's house for Thanksgiving, and this year my sister asked me to bring "fall desserts" instead of "like carrot cake" and she said it very nicely and doesn't ask for much, so I agreed. Then went searching for "fall desserts" on Pinterest. I found apple, pumpkin, and cranberry and that's about all. My dad said No Way, I wait on carrot cake all year, so it definitely stays on the menu. I take all my leftover desserts to his house after the Thanksgiving meal.

  9. Good morning, ya'll. I'm pretty bummed about my sore throat-when will it end? For reference, last night I couldn't eat ice cream. I did just eat some rice pudding, and I have some soup ordered that was on sale at Albertson's. Still alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen round the clock. Skipping Meloxicam for now, so the ibuprofen is safe for me to take. Anyway, here's my plan for today: prayer/Bible reading pick up the groceries finish the flashcards put a pork butt in the crock pot start my list of things to cook while DS is here clean emptied shelves in ds's room organize the pantry

  11. @DawnMso sorry you are sick. Hope you get plenty of rest today and feel better soon. Got up pretty early, sleep is all mixed up. 12. I started feeling human again today. Wednesday, I went back to the doctor (different), and was given a steroid shot, script for antibiotics, and cough syrup. I haven't had fever since yesterday, but man, my throat is still so sore. I didn't know it could be this sore and for so long!! I hesitate to take ibuprofen because I already take meloxicam. I did have some ibuprofen both times I saw the doctor, but didn't purchase any to have at home. Dh isn't supposed to take it either.
