  1. My MIL will be here which puts a damper on our plans since she is the super cautious type....she once told me I was pushing the stroller too fast. We had planned to view at our neighborhood pool but it is closed for emergency repairs. I think we'll walk down to a fairly open field near our max coverage (80% here). We do have glasses ordered way back in June.
  2. I can't remember much of my kids childhoods much less mine and my kids are just 10,9, and 6. My husband is also one who seems to remember everything. I feel bad when he says remember when dd2 did x and I'm looking at him blankly because I don't. I find it upsetting so I try not to dwell and just enjoy the present.
  3. I only have elementary children and when our end of year review is done everything gets recycled. I imagine in middle school I'll keep a bit and high school keep more but for now it all goes in the recycle bin.
  4. My dds had some bright pink putty in their room and managed to get it everywhere including ds's baby quilt that my grandmother made. There is an area about the size of a silver dollar where a thin layer of putty has dried. Any wise suggestions on how to clean it? The quilt is cotton and as luck would have it a very light background so the pink is very very obvious.
  5. In the part of Maryland I am in we will see about an 80% eclipse. I can't find the site that had the simulation but the greatest point will be around 2:40 pm.
  6. I had the exam done locally, got a printed prescription, and input the prescription when ordering my glasses. Super easy.
  7. Thanks to all the positive reviewson here I decided to order glasses from Zinni optical. I got them today and am very pleased. I was able to get 2 pairs, one with transition lenses for $80. So excited. Now I have a splashy, bright pair and a pair more like I typically wear.
  8. My son is on a med where the right fose right now is 15 mg but that dose doesn't exist as a single pill so he takes a 5mg and a 10 mg. It does take some exploring. His side effects lasted 2-3 days. He is on short acting medication.
  9. I don't see why she needs to change. It sounds like she did just what I wish someone had done for me in school. Why does it matter if the bully tells? Then the bully would then have to explain his actions as well. One line in the OP really bothered me but I can't quote easily on my phone. It was when the OP said these weren't major bullying moments because no one was getting beat up. This to me is utter ridiculousness. It does not take physical altercation for bullying to have a profound effect on someone and we need more people like OP's daughter to call it what it is.
  10. I recently saw one that used aloe vera gel as the base. I don't have much experience with aloe vera gel though.
  11. Not starting school until end if the month but summer declutter mission is still in full effect. Today -sort laundry and wash, dry, fold all day -get the rest of the toys out of ds's room -finish sorting papers from last school year (recycle most) -work on organizing under stair storage space
  12. Hopefully we can make it this year.
  13. I ordered mine in June from Rainbow Symphony. They were on one of the suggested lists for purchasing appropriately safe viewing glasses. Our libraries are also giving out glasses on the day.
  14. I've used this before. It's amazingly effective.
  15. Dh goes into work around 6. He likes the quiet and gets a lot done. This way he is typically home for dinner. We eat shortly after he gets home most days (we are very early to bed, early to rise by nature). My kids are young yet with my eldest being 10 so I anticipate even quick dinners before or after activities will become increasingly more difficult.
  16. Do a happy dance with me! I was able to get a twice declared dead laptop to connect to the internet and am getting it set up to be a school laptop. Now my 3 kids won't have to fight over access when it comes time for school work. My school days just got easier and I feel accomplished.
  17. My dd10 completed level A independently last year and will be doing level B this year. She has the lessons on her "school iPod" (really my very old one). She gets her lesson sheet, listens, corrects, and then shows me her work. Although she tested into A I think she missed a handful of words and was done quite early in the Spring.
  18. Quill and I have the same type of meat truck. They were here last week. It looked like on of my neighbors made a purchase.
  19. Does it count if it's respite care? I will schedule our provider to come for 4-5 hours just so I can get away. I do this at least every other month. Otherwise our time with her is used for doctor appointments and such.
  20. That's great to hear. I worried that he would be discouraged by pulling out the old book. Level C arrives just before we begin again.
  21. Those who have used this....is it necessary to complete the entire book before moving on to the next? DS finished 3/4 of level B last year. Despite my best intentions we have not finished it over the summer. Would it be ok to move to level C or is finishing level B necessary to understanding C?
  22. Not horrid. We travel with our elderly beagle but have driven many miles out of our way for a hotel thst is pet friendly and even then don't leave him alone in the room. I too am a rule follower and rule breakers botger me. I would reported.
  23. I let my kids name ours when we started and the state we were in required a name. We are Appletree Learning School. At present we have no real need for a school name so it's just for fun.
  24. Tuna salad, mac and cheese for the 7 y/o, sometimes quesadillas.
