  1. WOW! I have so enjoyed getting to know you all a little better by "your songs". PrairieAir yes I know and like that song too. Who can not like that, but I still don't let my kids listen to that yet. ;) Tibbyl- yes I do remember that David Allan Coe sang that song as well. He does a very good version of it. It was funny my ringtone on my phone is Stand By Your Man, the version I knew was by Tammy Wynette of course. Well, Cingular did not have that song sung by her, but they did have David Allan Coe singing it. So now both my ringtones are David Allan Coe. When my husband calls it is our song and when anyone else calls it is Stand by Your Man. A little off topic I know. ;)
  2. Yes it is! That tells you what a heathen I was back in the day. ;) I was a drinkin', smokin', cussin', redneck girl with an attitude. Boy has the Lord really changed me. I can't even tell kids stories from my past because most all of them are not G rated, even when I was young. But that song reminds me of our love and where the Lord has brought me from. I still like a few David Allan Coe songs- namely "You never even called me by my name" :D
  3. I was just wondering if you and your husband (or wife) have a song and what is it? :bigear: My song to my husband has always been a song by David Allan Coe. Here are the lyrics: Pledging my Love Forever my darling my love will be true Always and forever I’ll love only you Just promise me darling Your love in return May this fire in my soul dear Forever burn My heart's at your command dear To keep, love and to hold Making you happy's my desire loving you is my goal I'll Forever love you for the rest of my days I’ll never part from you or your loving ways I can think of several songs that fit our love better now, but this has been my song to him from the very beginning. So what about you?
  4. I don't know. I strive for that too. I did want to say you can find a unit study I wrote on that book at http://www.homeschoolshare.com if you are interested. We had fun with it. ;)
  5. :iagree: Except we have been married 14 years now. He completes me. He is my all, and words can not express my love and devotion to him. She thinks she needs me by Andy Griggs she thinks i walk on water she thinks i hung the moon she tells me every mornin they just don't make men like you she thinks i've got it together she swears i'm as tough as nails but i dont have the heart to tell her that she dont know me that well she dont know how much i need her she dont know i'd fall apart without her kiss without her touch without her faithful lovin arms she dont know that its all about her she dont know i cant live without her she's my world she's my everything and she thinks she needs me sometimes she cries on my shoulder when she's layin next to me but she dont know that when i hold her that she's really holdin me holdin me she dont know how much i need her she dont know i'd fall apart without her kiss without her touch without her faithful lovin arms she dont know that its all about her she dont know i cant live without her she's my world she's my everything and she thinks she needs me yea now the funny thing is she thinks she's the lucky one she dont know how much i need her she dont know i'd fall apart without her kiss without her touch without her faithful lovin arms she dont know that its all about her she dont know i cant live without her she's my world she's my everything and she thinks she needs me She thinks i walk on water She thinks i hung the moon
  6. This will be my last comment on this thread, but I just wanted to say that Yes, all these things are true that you said as well. No arguing that -it is in the Bible. However, she can not change her husband, she can only change herself and her reactions. Debi Pearl's book is written just to the wives, what she can and should do. Michael is working on one just for the husbands and it will address the husbands responsibility, and what they are to do- He has a tape now I think it is called For Men Only. I am responsible to God on how I submit to my husband, my husband is responsible to God for how he leads. That is all I will say on the matter as I do not wish to start a debate on Jessica's thread. :D
  7. 2 things- first of all I am praying for you in this time-whatever is going on the Lord is our strongtower and our very present help in time of need. Second- and you may not like this suggestion, most women don't- but read Created to be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl. Pray and read, then pray some more. If you can not afford this book please PM me and I will send you out a copy. I have seen marriages and lives transformed through this book. I am sure to get tomatoes for even recommending it, but I can not read your post and not beg you to read it. :grouphug:
  8. WOW! Thank you! I have some ideas now as yall helped to get my creative juices flowing. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you and say Thank you, I was away from the computer- and this board moves fast.
  9. Just wanted to chime in here and let you know you can do both- kinda. ;) If you go to http://www.homeschoolshare.com you will find a list of FIAR books and it matches the FIAR book with a Sonlight title as a read aloud so you are getting to do both, but they are related somehow in theme. :D Just wanted to share that with you. http://www.homeschoolshare.com/general_resources.php matches FIAR books with various other products- the Sonlight matching is the last one listed there.
  10. Yes, Vol. 1, 2, or 3 will work. Vol. 1 is typically done in the fall, 2 in the spring and 3 was originally released as a summer volume, and some stories are reflect that. Of course you can mix and match- not all books are season specific. I love FIAR and have used it for years now- I would recommend purchasing it, however, you may want to go look at http://www.homeschoolshare.com that has tons of free units to see if it is right for you. I own all 3 volumes- I do not have volume 4, but the books used are wonderful and some of our favorites. So, do not pass on these, I just wanted to give you an option to really see it to see if it is for you.
  11. Turning my thoughts to Christmas I know this will be a really tight year. I need ideas for inexpensive Christmas presents for my children. Yet, I don't want to just buy stuff that will wind up in the dumpster in a bit. What are your ideas? Things I can make? Do? Any ideas would be appreciated. :)
  12. Have you seen these Cabbage Patch dolls on Ebay to look like McCain, Palin, Obama and Liden? This may have been posted already as I get way behind here, but I thought those were too cute. All the money goes to a good cause too- Toys for Tots. Please do not turn this into a political thread. editing to add the link http://stores.ebay.com/Auction-Cause_W0QQfsubZ481950014
  13. I hope you get some replies as I have been wandering the same thing.
  14. A friend of mine is using this (and core 100) with her daughter and was wondering if there are tests, or worksheets or something with written work already done that she could give her daughter. She works and homeschools so is looking for something workbooky to help her. I knew the hive would know!;);)
  15. Well, here is more fuel for ya-another Mc Cain/Obama debate of sorts. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4TIitZpqv4 Here is what they are saying if you need help http://www.ronclarkacademy.com/news/news/rca-students-on-youtube.aspx
  16. Core 3 is way more advanced, has more books and is more interesting. When we did Adventures I was constantly beefing it up- the readings are short and did not hold a though very long. We were tired of the coloring pages. We did enjoy American Pioneers and Patriots though. There really is no comparison between the 2 programs.
  17. Yes, and my dd reached up and touched it and was shocked it was hot!! I love Johnny Cash- and actually taught the preschoolers in our church a dance to one of his songs that they performed in front of the church. Pastor still gives me a hard time over that one as he was not informed what song or who it was by. :D I am pro life and take my children to Silent Seiges with me I am anti gay marriage I voted for Bush 2 times, and although I would not have made the same decisions he made, or even like some of the decisions he made- I do not regret it. I am the only Republican in a family (father, brothers, sisters, etc) of democrats. My husband and kiddos are republican as well. I teach my kids to shoot from about 3-4 years old Oh here is a big one I will get nasty tomatoes from- I watched Jesus camp and really believe in what they were teaching. The liberals sounded just like my family. :leaving::leaving: I drink margaritas occassionally. I used to smoke pot- a lot of it.- and I too would have smoked weed with Willie. In fact my dad looked like Willlie, and when he would go to Willies hometown to hunt he was often confused with Willie. I smoked weed with him. I love Debi Pearls book Created to be His Helpmeet I love the Pearls child raising techniques I think that is probably enough revelation for now. Don't want to overload you with too much more or I will be ousted for sure.
  18. LOF is our core. We have found it to be plenty. If we run into problems we will add extra problems from the internet, but they review problems enough throughout the books we have not had a problem yet. BTW, we have finished fraction and are about 1/3 way through decimals.
  19. I am not sure how many of us there are, but there are at least 2!! Opps make that 3!
  20. :iagree: We are so loving LOF. My husband is even reading it for himself just for fun.
  21. Have you ever looked at http://www.triviumpursuit.com ? I love the breakdown of the trivium they use because it fits my family so well. Look for the article 10 Things to do Below Age 10 - or something like that. We use and LOVE Five in a Row. Go with her interests. Momof7 said the same things I would have. :D
