  1. Those are some great ideas! Thank you!:D I am also going to look on family fun.
  2. I am watching the preschool kids for a church event. I will have between 10-15 3,4, and 5 year olds. I need games, activities and crafts to keep them busy for 2 nights- 3 hours each night. Do you have any ideas please? :o
  3. Not sure if you are a Christian, but I will pray for peace for you,the boys and their parents.
  4. We get a 45 minute violin lesson each week for 2 children and pay $30 a month. She is young, but she is very good. I also pay $40 a month for a 30-45 minute guitar lesson from my son once a week. We have it good!:D
  5. Me too! Frank Peretti's books were really insightful and eye opening to me! :D
  6. HI! We are about 45 minutes west of Ft. Worth- North of Weatherford! I grew up in the Lake Conroe area- Montgomery to be exact.
  7. I really like Five in a row/ homeschoolshare for my younger children. I follow the trivium as laid out in Teaching the Trivium by Laurie and Harvey Bluedorn. That book has really made an impact on HOW I homeschool my children. Those are the only 2 things I would say are my favorites. Oh, Missionary stories with the millers is a huge hit here.
  8. WOW! Is everyone else's 11 and 12 yo working this long? We do not spend anywhere near that on school.
  9. My friend is not registered here and wanted me to ask this. She is looking at CW Aesop A for her children and trying to see what she will need from the following: the book Aesop, the instructors guide for Aesop A and student workbook for A. She is going to do a sample lesson from both CW and Writing tales to see which fits her/them best. Thanks for your help.
  10. Thank you! That was sure a quick reply! :D
  11. Does anyone know if there will be a level 3? I am going to use this, but did not know if there were plans for level 3 or not. Thank you! :D
  12. WHEW! :D I was sure hoping not on a weight loss thread!
  13. This year when we did ECC, we added in some sonlight books. While I would choose MFW over Sonlight, I still really like the book choices Sonlight has made. The next 2 years I am doing my own thing for sure, but in year 3 I think I will be back with MFW- adding in a few Sonlight books. :D
  14. Thanks everyone! I will show this to my husband and let him decide! :D Gotta love having a husband! ;)
  15. Miracle music. Up by 7, school by 8. It has been a great help! :D http://www.miraclemusic.com
  16. :D There are quite a few of us! I am Janee' in Texas over there, but here I use a handle! Not sure why- just always have! ;)
  17. that requires very little from the parent. I am going back and forth between doing just the roots- to doing the actual language. We are possibly getting 2 more little children in March- so I need SIMPLE! I was looking at Hey Andrew series! - What is your opinion?
  18. Besides this year when we went with ECC, I have always done my own thing. We are going back to doing our own using MOH/SOTW combo and Apologia science. What about you? What do you use?
  19. I agree with the other posters. They have offered great advice. I would watch her and ambush her. She know the rules and is breaking them intentionally- even at her age- whats worse is she is bringing her sister along for the ride. When I caught her I wouldn't say a word, just give her a swat, take her down, and walk off. Then watch again. I would make it your duty for at least one whole day to catch her. That is just how I would handle repeat offense like that. As far as removing the items- maybe some of the more expensive items, but replace them with cheap lip glosses or something. I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but my thought are God did not put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil out of reach, he put it in the middle of the garden. Well, there is my 2 cents. ;)
  20. I have not felt the need for either of them, we use Five in a row for our preschool. However, I would choose Sonlight if I needed something prepared and ready to go.
  21. We use the touch on lamps from Home Depot. It takes batteries instead of electricity so that may be a down side for you. We used them so the 2 oldest girls could read while my youngest could sleep. They are in a tier bunk bed.
  22. I have used it with my then 8yodd, but I can say she did not get nearly as much out of it as her then 10yo brother.
  23. I just like the planning of what's next! Our school year starts in May, and right now I am seeing what is out there, :D and planning because I do not buy a prepackaged curriculum. Well, I say I don't, I did this last year and have not used it as intended. This year I am going back to "do it yourself" using MOH, SOTW, and Apologia. ;) Five in a row is my longest used curriculum. I have used it for all my little ones.
