  1. I am very excited that this came out and my big girl did a cartwheel! After our Astronomy unit, I would like to purchase and begin this program. The online samples looked great and I like how the Junior Notebook looks too! Has anyone started or purchased it? Impressions?
  2. You can make a bunch of breakfast sandwiches pretty cheaply and have them wrapped and ready to go in the fridge. Two bags of English muffins $2 That big flat of medium eggs $3 Two American sliced cheese blocks $4 About $10 and you can make 16 breakfast sandwiches. These are prices from Save A Lot (like Aldis). And if I have leftover meat (ham, chicken) or veggies (pepper, onions), I tossed that into the eggs for the sandwiches. No need to waste small amounts of leftovers.
  3. First school day went well! Had to cut my big girl off from math after about 40 minutes!

  4. We go Monday morning, bright and early. Then we "refill" shop on Thursday (bright and early) for stuff that needs refills (ie. milk, fruit, etc). We did go early Sunday morning since we started school this morning. And I mean, we leave around 8am and 8:15am.
  5. We just started today and it went very well. Just a little more to do!
  6. The consistency of the butter makes a big difference with those types of cookie. It is usually "softened" butter, correct? Did you leave it out on the counter to soften?
  7. Yes, we do interest led science, for example. My big girl is very interested in Chemistry and after a brief unit about Astronomy, we are going to head back to Chemistry. (Though Chemistry doesn't have much to do with being a duck! ) But when the girls express interest in something, I do seek out opportunities/resources/materials for them to explore the interest more. If it is something that sticks, the more involved I get with finding more materials/resources/opportunities. Sometimes things are just a passing phase too.
  8. Yes, with the gripper foamy paper. Nothing that sticks forever!
  9. Nope, we are blessed to be given LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of "mall clothes" from my brother and sister in law. Their dd wears them a few times and they get passed to us!
  10. When my big girl was 2 years old, she wanted to be a duck when she grew up...
  11. I love them! I wear them! I like the bling, I like the thick stitching. BUT....the definitely draw attention to your behind and some add "bulk" to your behind (all the jewels, for example).
  12. Most of the time unless you are feeling fat. :glare:
  13. Looks good! I would add some crafts/art and maybe music to round it out a bit. I have rising second grader and a K'er and for art, I have a drawer filled with all sorts of odds and ends that I collect. They just take glue, scissors and crayons/markers and create whatever. Nothing formal. And while they are doing that, I play different genres of music in the background. That is art and music here! Nothing fancy or formal and (since we need to report) agreeable with the school district.
  14. Nope! I gave it to my bf when she got married and when her dh's daughter got married, the dress was passed onto her! All they had to pay for were the alterations and cleanings.
  15. I don't know! lol We got a bunch of free books from the ps so we've been working through those....
  16. We tried those books once. My big girl was bored working in the 1st grade math book when she was about 3 so they weren't a hit.
  17. Anywhere I can get a massage and room service!!
  18. I'm suppose to count hours and put them on my report. I just take the 960 hours, divide it by 4 and write "240+" on each quarterly report. My girls are aggressive learners so I don't fret about exact hours.
  19. I watch TV too! If I watch more than what the "hive" deems as too much then oh well!
  20. Carol's Affordable Curriculum Son Shine package.
  21. I just play different genres of music in the background while the girls work on their art projects...that's music class!
  22. My kids don't just sit and watch TV so there isn't a problem with too much screen time here. Actually, when I need a break, I do mandatory sit down...where I TELL them to sit and watch TV for a bit!
