  1. My kids have just watched TV/played video games for the past 30 minutes...sitting on the couch. In my unpopular opinion, that is great and a nice break!!
  2. No, you are not. We keep the gift amounts equal.
  3. Take it then sell it. If you won it, how would feelings be hurt?
  4. No shoes on in our house. (thinking of the cat poop I stepped in the other day and had to wipe off my shoes) I don't want nasty outside stuff on my carpets and floors! My kids play on them!
  5. I don't like the Applebee's "See you tomorrow" tag line. Why tomorrow? Why not today or tonight? If you want people to come tomorrow, there will be a greater chance of them NOT coming verses coming tonight or later.
  6. Low to mid six figures seems like $100,000 to about $500,000. I would think closer to $500,000 if they are fairly wealthy. Perhaps they are just being modest by making it sound so vague.
  7. Aren't hotels equipped with emergency lights in case of a power outage? Usually those two giant lights mounted on a white box above the emergency exits? I think the chance of having to feel your way down a dark hallway is very slim. Not to mention the chaos and traffic flow of other room renters going down the hall to the exits.
  8. Minus bolting and chaining the doors, nothing. I am already the type of person that keeps my stuff all packed up nice and neat and in one place. So if there is an emergency, I basically just need to zip up the suitcase and run!
  9. I can imagine this is super unpopular is the HSing world: I can't stand being unshowered and not dressed. I am showered and dressed typically by 6am every day. The girls are dressed before breakfast ("breakfast pajamas" is a treat every now and then).
  10. Santa, the Easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc. don't and never have come to our house.
  11. Keanu Reeves is a terrible actor. And I also can't stand Robin Williams. I think "Elf" (and Will Farrell) are annoying and not funny. I don't like Starbucks coffee. Or Tim Horton's. My kids have always known the truth about santa, the toothfairy, Easter bunny, etc....very unpopular in my family. I think people are too caught up in the "educational" thing now a days (ie. parents asking for educational only ideas for gifts, abcmouse.com, etc). I grew up on "twaddle" (Bugs Bunny, Transformers, Sweet Valley books, Scooby Doo, etc) and turned out fine. Kids need paper, crayons, scissors, glue, dirt, sticks, rocks. Not kits and sets and websites. I think the whole "Elf on a Shelf" thing is dumb. ( :leaving: dodging tomatoes now!!)
  12. Not unless you want Benson and Amaro knocking at your door.
  13. I am extremely excited about the unique gift we have for my father!!! His token gifts each year are sugar free candies and books. Hard.to.shop.for. Has everything, needs or wants nothing. A gal on fb mentioned her son was accepted to Kettering University in Michigan, which used to be General Motors Institute back in the day. My dad is a GMI alum so I got a great idea to hit ebay for some GMI memorabilia and hit the jackpot!!! I found an original, unused GMI application, application booklet and envelope (there is a name on the label) circa 1960. Not the same year my father would have applied but very close and I can't imagine the application and booklet changing much in a couple years time span. So I ordered it! And I'm also going to type on a label with my dad's name and address from where he lived when he was in high school. Sooo...when he opens the gift, it will look like the GMI application packet was addressed to him!! I'm hoping it will bring him a flood of fond memories. I'm really excited about this!!! :hurray:
  14. No limit. If my kids sat and watched TV for even 15 minutes at a time, I would be thrilled.
  15. Very seriously. A car seat is something I would NEVER screw around with or be cheap with (ie. buying one at a yard sale). And I'm a pretty cheap person. And yes, I lived at the time when car seats did not exist and am still here. BUT people are driving faster and have bigger vehicles. Car seats are very serious imo.
  16. I like to clean. I like the sense of accomplishment that goes along with a clean house. "Excuse the mess" is NOT in my vocabulary.
  17. Very well off. My parents weren't ones to "flaunt" it while I was growing up but have loosen up now that they are semi-retired. My dad still drives a beat up work truck and wears tattered clothing. They are very successfully self employed.
  18. Because I'm a math dummy and need a lot of help with my mathematically gifted child.
  19. My baby turned 5 this past Wednesday!!
