I want to watch some quiet, slow movies... Any suggestions?
teeleigh2000 replied to helena's topic in The Chat Board
The New World. Slowest movie I can remember, plus there's Colin Farrell and Christian Bale, so...., -
Agree wholeheartedly!! When the movie first came out we had just done Prince Caspian as a read aloud in preparation to see the movie. Needless to say we spent the whole movie saying, "That doesn't happen then!", and "They don't even meet each other in the book!", etc..... Although there are some liberties taken in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" I thought they were minimal things such as plot order that did not really change the meaning, but made it easier to follow as a movie.

My father-in-law does this every time he is behind the wheel. I can double dog assure you that in his case it is absolutely aggression. Like there is some pent up rage that always surfaces against anyone who has the gall to be ahead of him on the road, every other driver on road is an idiot except him, complete with cursing, hand gestures, horn blowing, etc. Once when we were all in the car with him, he would have to continually slam on his brakes as a result of tailgating, and each time things from the back woukd slide forward and slam into the back of our seat, oh but god forbid you mention that, just let it go... Here's the part I could not let go - then he quite literally almost killed dh and oldest dd by turning into the path of an oncoming car that had the right of way and was going about 60 mph. Guess what he did after we survived this? He cursed a blue streak up and down against the other driver! When we quite ferociously called him on it, he cursed us out! Needless to say I will never be in a car with him driving ever again. Yes this is quite a sore spot with me.....:glare:

To take an infant camping...or not?
teeleigh2000 replied to Pretty in Pink's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Do what is best for you and don't let it get to you. It sounds as if you know your limits and this trip would be beyond what you are willing to deal with. I find that people who will adamantly push you to do something uncomfortable would never do the same for you if the roles were reversed. Seriously the whole "turn the carseat around" thing would just tick me off...seems like a very controlling person that I would rather not be stuck with in a campsite. -

Can we talk stinky feet for a minute?
teeleigh2000 replied to athena1277's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Here's what I was told to do and it worked for me... Get a spray bottle and fill it with full strength 70% isopropyl alcohol. First you can spray the inside of the shoes until wet then let them air dry. If you are about to wear the shoes, spray the inside of shoes and the bottom of your feet. Put the shoes on while shoes and feet are both wet with the alcohol. Yes it is squishy, but as it dries while you walk in them, the smell goes away. Not immediately, but after just a few uses. -

It was just a spelling bee with all the fourth grade classes. It was down to just me and Juliet R. And the word was "Indian". Which I spelled "i-n-d-i-a-n" And the teacher said, "No that is not correct". I could not believe what I was hearing! Then it is Juliet's turn and she says "CAPITAL I, n-d-i-a-n" with that smirky grin. And of course she then won first place! How do you know I didn't mean capital I? I didn't say "lower case i"!!!!! But I'm not bitter.....:glare:

Sorry!:001_smile: Pay me no mind, I don't have any experience, I only did a quick google search!! I never knew about carrots being starchy so I was surprised! I agree that many sources of nutritional information can be very innaccurate. I should have known better.....:tongue_smilie:
