AuntieM
a power ballad -- does a power ballad have to come from a hair band? - but for me, in the 80s, this was it - Missing You by John Waite

Suzanne in ABQ
I loved Steve Perry until I saw Journey in concert. They did *every* song at break-neck speed. Even open arms. He was literally running back and forth on the stage through the entire song. I still don't know if they were just strung out on speed, or if they were just in a hurry to get out of Albuquerque! Very disappointing. I still love their studio work, though.
Julie in CA
Now I've just lost 2 hours on youtube. What a blast through the past! (My laundry isn't done, and the kids haven't done all of their schoolwork, but I've enjoyed a trek through old favorite songs of the 80's) ;)
mom2a&z
I was a member of the Journey Fan Club and I had a huge Steve Perry poster hanging over my bed. He was dreamy back in the day. My friends even gave me a piece of Steve Perry flair for my Facebook page. He was my first crush.
Carol in Cal.
"One in a Million" by Larry Graham!!!!! I also liked "To You, My Love" by June Pointer. "I Knew You Were Waiting" by Aretha Franklin and some guy "Through the Storm" by Aretha Franklin "Ain't Nobody" by Chakka Khan "Reasons" by Earth, Wind, and Fire (OK, maybe the late 70's. But still.) buddhabelly
"I'm forever yours.......faithfully." Yeah, I believed it when they sang it.
buddhabelly
and it's not even a power ballad (LOL), but there is nothing like "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. I cried driving home alone from a high school dance when that song came on. I had enjoyed dancing with my crush all evening, but knew that he would stay true to his "main" girlfriend so it would be our only night together. And I was right. OK, back to mom stuff! ("All my dreams....only for a moment, and the moment's gone!" Sniff.) Julie
Colleen in NS
Ahhhhh, the 80s. Not a power ballad, but dh had 80s music on a few weeks ago so I was dancing to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Our Lips are Sealed. Drove my kids crazy for hours afterwards singing the GoGos.
