Storygirl
We need to buy a new one. Any recommendations? Our current one is a rope style, and I'm debating about whether to get another like it or switch to a different kind. I'd like something easy on the hands, because our current leash has given me a callous on my little finger, where it rubs as I hold it (I hold the leash with two hands). Jean in Newcastle
What kind of a dog? I use a climbing rope style leash with my Rottie/shepherd mix. It has a loop at the end with fabric covering to protect the hands. I couldn't find a link to the exact leash but it is something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Strong-Dog-Comfortable-Reflective-Threads/dp/B078MYFT8D/ref=psdc_3024193011_t3_B005U48IXW
Innisfree
We have one with an extra handle near the dog's back or shoulders which I really like, especially for our relatively large, energetic, and still-not-fully-trained younger dog. If you search "dog leashes with two handles" on Amazon you'll see an assortment of them. Both handles have some padding, as well. For our fully trained, smaller, older dog the same leash would be overkill, so it does just depend what you need.
Pawz4me
A good quality leather leash. I have several and all of them are probably at least twenty years old and soft as butter. They've served me well from dogs who were 90+ pounds to my current 15 pounders. I expect they'll still be usable long after I'm gone.

Pen
It depends hugely on circumstances. My favorite leash in our circumstances for adult dog that size is http://gripleash.com/ I don’t know if it would solve callus problems. (I haven’t gotten calluses from leashes.) It is super easy to hold onto even if wet. Also one can go around waist and another connect for hands free . Also they have short tabs if that’s desired — and that can connect to longer leash They also are long lasting. ScoutTN
Another vote for leather. Mine is almost 30 years old, on it’s third dog, and works great. Edited June 30, 2021 by ScoutTN
history-fan
“Leash Boss” is the brand I have for 70 lb dog. I also only use a harness which may change the way you hold the leash. They have 1 hand & 2 hand leashes & one with a third traffic loop, and any length you want 12 inches to 100 feet and different widths. I have a 10 foot and 50 foot leash and really like the brand, comfortable on hands, heavy stitching, large heavy duty clip, lasting through all kinds of weather including rain and snow. https://www.leashboss.com/ Edited June 30, 2021 by history-fan
Lori D.
We have this leather leash with a clip, so you can have 2 different lengths. However, our dog also uses a gentle leader, so she walks nicely with a "loose leash" at my side, with no pulling, so now blisters or calluses on my hand.
Tap
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNJZVKZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I like this one. It is long enough that our goldendoodle can wander a bit, and the short handle is great for crossing the road or gaining control when she is distracted.
