PrincessMommy
yesterday morning I bought frozen codfish. It's the kind that are individually sealed in packets. I was such a hurry when I got home that I only put away the perishables... except I just found the fish in the grocery bag. So it's been out for about 22hrs. It was going to be for dinner tonight. Laura Corin
Is it cold? If it's still cold, I would be fine to use it.
kiana
Agree. If it's cold I'd treat it as if it had been refrigerated and use it now. This is one reason it irritates me when the grocery clerk ignores how I have carefully placed all my items on the conveyor -- shelf-stable, then refrigerator, then frozen -- and just starts bagging them by 'grab the big stuff and put it on the bottom'. I try to stop them but sometimes I get distracted and don't notice.

I try to stop them but sometimes I get distracted and don't notice. This is why I like to bag my own groceries. :-) I believe they are trained to grab the big stuff and put it on the bottom. For their purposes, it's the most efficient way to bag, right? I would eat it only if it was very cold, like just out of the fridge.
PrincessMommy
I also prefer to bag my own. I like to put like things together.. the fish was room temp...so I guess I'll toss... bummer
Elizabeth86
I could have sworn I responded. If you find me rambling about fish in another post, you'll know what happened. Edited November 1, 2017 by Elizabeth86
goldberry
No. Fish? No.
Sandwalker
When in doubt, throw it out. Or give it to the cat. Especially fish, which rot quickly and are very poorly regulated (in the US). You don't want a food borne disease.

Loowit
No. Not with any fish or seafood especially.
MEmama
We have been out of power for several days so I'm frantically eating everything out of our thawing freezer. I made shrimp tacos with no longer frozen shrimp, and salmon fillets that were cold but not frozen and both were fine. But room temperature fish? No way. Even for me that's too risky. justasque
No. Not even for the cat.
Catwoman
I hope you threw it out. I hate it when stuff like that happens!!!
PrincessMommy
I hope you threw it out. I hate it when stuff like that happens!!! yes, I did. Now it's a moot point. I started feeling rather poorly a few hours ago and now I feel awful. I'm going curl up in a blanket and watch a couple of episodes of Stranger Things. Dh and son can fend for themselves for dinner. Blech.
