Faithr
Hi all, So the vegetable stew and cous cous got left out over night. It smells fine, but I am so easily spooked possibly spoiled food. What does the WTM jury say?
regentrude
I would eat it without 2nd thought.
Insertcreativenamehere
My husband would eat it, even if it contained meat. He's never gotten sick. I'm more cautious and would chuck it.
EKS
I'd get rid of it.
Guest
I'd pitch it.
SparklyUnicorn
The stew I'd save and eat. The couscous I'd throw out. People think stuff like meat is the biggest problem. No actually stuff like rice is the bigger hazard when it comes to food poisoning. Although, that said, I am not particularly squeamish. I'd probably even still eat the couscous so long as my house wasn't too hot. In the summer I tend to be more careful.
poppy
If it has dairy / eggs / meat throw out. If it's cooked just with oil and spices, it's fine.
Heatherwith4
I'd eat it.
Upennmama
Eat it.
Spryte
I'd toss it, but others in my house would eat it and be fine. I have out of whack gut flora, and tend to food poisoning, so I'm cautious.
Selkie
I'm super cautious about avoiding food poisoning, so I would throw it away.
Rebel Yell
I'd toss it. Even if it was fine, I'd be so worried about food poisoning and watching for sign in the rest of the family that I'd make myself sick anyway, so it isn't worth it to me. And I hate to waste food and money! I just hate worrying and being sick more.
Annie G
I wouldn't worry about getting sick but as to whether I'd eat it- it depends on if it looks dried out from being left out. If it was covered, sure I'd eat it.
Monica_in_Switzerland
I'd heat the stew to boiling and eat it again no problem. Couscous, not so sure, but heck, I probably would. I'm not too cautious about this kind of thing.
Faithr
Thanks everyone! It doesn't have any meat, dairy, etc in the stew or the cous cous and it was covered so nothing dried out. Someone conscientiously covered it all and then just didn't put it in the fridge. I wound up putting it away. If no one eats it, I'll chuck it later. It really didn't look bad and my house wasn't especially hot last night.
solascriptura
Eat it of course. I would without a second thought.
Laura Corin
I'd eat it. I often cool things down overnight. Except for rice which has a particular issue.
eternalsummer
I eat stuff like that all the time and I am still alive. However, we don't eat dairy or eggs, so I don't eat those left out because I just don't eat them.
Tammi K
I would eat it without 2nd thought. :iagree: Me too!
