kitten18
DS is getting a big present from Santa (bike) but I would like to get him a couple smaller things (toys, something he can play with) to wrap and put under the tree. He doesn't like Lego very much except for mini-figs and I got him some of those. He does really like k'nex, especially the kits with motors but he has all the engineering sets. I have a couple Sick Science kits in my Amazon cart, any thoughts on those? I looked at my local wal-mart and didn't see anything. At this point, whatever I get probably needs to come from Amazon. Thanks

lanalouwho
I was going to suggest Nerf. We are having a very Nerf Christmas here. My boys are getting the bows, my nephews are getting walkie talkies and my friend's boys are getting some guns. And extra darts in the stockings. JudoMom
If he likes Nerf & Knex, Knex has Nerf compatible blasters you can build. Thames & Kosmos has a Catapults & Crossbows kit that's around $25. What about an Engino set? Keva planks?
6packofun
There were some good ideas in this thread: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/632216-what-are-you-getting-your-10-or-11-year-old-son/ I ended up ordering a Perplexus for our 10yo (and everyone, probably) because I was reminded of it in the above. :)
Just Kate
My 12 year old ds and his friends are all obsessed with Rubik's Cubes.
lea1
I got a pretty cool metal compass that opens/closes and a pretty good pair of binoculars for each of my two 11 year old sons.

happypamama
Nerf guns. Even if he has some already, my 11yo son says that more is good. Apparently some of the fun is in choosing different ones from your arsenal at different times.
school17777
A lock for his bike! I remember the Christmas I got a bike. There was a package under the tree before Christmas that I could not figure out what it was - it was a lock for the bike!
Ausmumof3
I would maybe to something bike related - helmet, fancy handlebars or bells or something - I can't see the age so I'm not sure what's most appropriate.
Spryte
Need bow and arrows - everyone here loves those!
JFSinIL
That age my son collected all the Calvin and Hobbes comic books. I agree with everyone who noted he is at the perfect Nerf gun age. Decent compass for when he is out on his bike I think the Exploding Kittens game sounds like a perfect 12-yr-old type of humor gift. Ya'all have to be good sports and play it with him, too. HeWillSoar
I got my 13 year old a learn to solder kit on Amazon. Maybe an electronic playground. Has he tried Keva planks? Mine doesn't like Legos but he loves Keva planks.
bibiche
We are a pacifist household, but got history buff DS the book "Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction 3: Build Siege Weapons of the Dark Ages." I am hoping it is educational. ;)
