Another UPS poll: Do you call it U-P-S or ups, as in ups and downs

When I lived in South Dakota, everyone called the U-P-S truck (or delivery person) the ups truck or the ups man. It drove me crazy! Silly little thing. I always say U-P-S.

 

In Minnesota, people call it U-P-S. Just wondering if that was a regional thing, or if others call it the ups truck.

I usually say "Finally" or "Please, please stop with a surprise" as they drive by daily. Otherwise it is U-P-S.

 

I wonder if they track how often people check tracking information on a package? :001_huh: I love it when it says "out for delivery". :D

Now we call it U-P-S.

When I was growing up we called it The Present Truck. It always delivered gifts from Grandma in California.

UPS - but one of my little cousins used to call it PBS. When my grandmother passed away and the hearse (or whatever, maybe an ambulance?) came to collect her body, she thought the "PBS man came to take Ruthie to heaven." :lol:

We say "the package man" I know that is sexist, but really, no woman has ever been the U.P.S. delivery driver for us! We usually have the same guy & my kids even call him Mr. Package Man to his face (as in "Thank you, Mr. Package Man). I think he likes it.

At home I have to remember to say the U P S truck is here. Our regular driver is a nice guy and never has a bad word to say.

 

Because at work, it is the oops truck. We get lots of damaged packages. But I do like the drivers, even if they do b**ch a lot.

 

But what would we do without them, they are better (really) than the rest.

My three-year-old calls it the P-U-S truck :lol: DH and I refer to the whole entity as "Brown," based on that awful, misguided ad campaign they ran a few years ago :D But otherwise, I grew up calling it U-P-S, just like you.

At about age 3 Zachary loved to watch for trash trucks and delivery trucks to come by. He dubbed the brown-and-yellow truck "ewe pee pess pee" and that's what we've called it ever since.
