  1. If you have a GSA (Government Surplus store) near you check them out. Our GSA has desk just like these all the time. The public schools get ride of them at the end of the year & buy new. I purchased 2 school desks for my girls for $2 each & school chairs for $1. I have seen the kidney shaped adjustable desks for $15 there. May be worth checking it out if they are close to you.
  2. I have looked at threads about secular products to use. Now I need advice about picking a Latin program. I used Prima Latina for my oldest when she was in 4th. I just had her skip the verse chants. I even bought a used copy of LC 1 & tried to use it this year. But we lost interest & put it aside for the last 4 months. Is there such a thing as secular Latin? Sorry for my ignorance! Know that I will need to buy a DVD to teach it. I know nothing about Latin. I learned right along with her. :-) For next year I have thought about starting my soon to be 2nd grade dd in Song School, but need direction for my soon to be 6th grader.
  3. -I have to have a printed daily checklist for the kids. I am still trying to come up with something for my daily check list. But I really like this moms idea. Here is her sons personal notebook. http://livelearnandlovetogether.blogspot.com/2010/07/new-improved-independent-notebook.html Here is her planning notebook http://livelearnandlovetogether.blogspot.com/2010/06/planning-progress-part-1.html She may actually be on here but I don't really get on here that much. :-) -I have to have everything planned out, in extreme detail, over the summer. There is no time during the school year for planning. I did this for myself this year. Put all the dates on the left & subjects on top. I have 3 weeks to a page. I just copy & paste my subjects every 3 weeks to the next sheet. I just added a cell if we got behind. This way I could see when we would finish a year. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ath4uwl-n63sdFVTOHNOelNmRUt2QU93d0hDZWExNHc&hl=en_US&authkey=CJvZuacM#gid=0 It was totally flexible for us this year. Best year I have had yet. I also did the file thing. Which I will not be doing next year. We did end up getting behind on that. Makes for a crazy catch up.
  4. Total apple family here. Love it so very much! We have an imac & a mac book. Hubby just got me an ipad for mothers day. I also have an iphone 4 & my oldest dd got my old iphone 3 when she went away for a summer gymnastics camp last year. So yes, we would buy more. Teehee Won't ever go back to a pc.
  5. I sure can! Just let me know your email address. I had to email it to my husband for him to turn it into a pdf. Here is a better picture of it. My mac just won't let me save it as a pdf. Not sure why. Ugh! jordyn-sixth-grade-schedule.pdf jordyn-sixth-grade-schedule.pdf
  6. I use this one that I created in excel. It has 3 weeks on one page. My dd just colors the box when it is finished. On the left is the dates for our whole year. On top is all her subjects. If we miss a day then I just insert a cell & it pushes it to the next day. Here is a screen shot of it on my mac. Lets hope I did it right. Teehee! Sorry I don't know how to make it bigger, so you get the full picture.
  7. The other day as I was reading all the wonderful posts on here, I stumbled upon a scheduling post. Someone had linked to a blog where the mom had scheduled all of her kids curricula for the year in 6 folders. There were 6 weeks in each folder. I forgot to put this blog in my favorites. If someone knows what I am talking about please link me to it again. I would love to read this blog & find out how this mom does her planning. I have tried searching for it with no luck tonight. Thanks
  8. Ok I will have to look into that also. Never would have thought of an Air Force Academy.
  9. Thank you very much for all the ideas. I am looking into all of them. On a side note-We took our girls to a dinosaur museum in Woodland Park, CO. It was amazing. We were able to touch real T-rex fossils and lots of other dino fossils. You guys should check it out. We took the tour there and it was so worth it. Now my girls love dinosaurs and want to learn all about them. Thanks again ladies.
  10. My husband has been working in a little town in Colorado. My girls and I drove out from WA to stay the month of May with him. We are in the little town of Leadville. It is a very cute town. But I am wondering if anyone has some good ideas for me about field trips. We brought school with us while we are here. I also want to take the girls on some little outings. Any ideas would be great. Thanks
